    OPI May 2017

Jeff Cup apparently deserves its own thread, well, so does the Oakwood Premier Invitational, May 26-29.

I have the invitation to this excellent event sitting in my inbox. April 3rd registration deadline, so you all must get a move on.

As for me, well, all I need to do is cobble together a team, as long as I can find a club to play for. Otherwise, I will need a club, first, and then a team. Still, am confident we can win it.

Not sure I'm into the attitude of the parents selling sour patch kids. I'll skip it with my boys and hope OW bleeds out

Best part of the tournament is their top girls team that goes and wins tournaments out of state and Jefferson Cup, loses in their own crappy tournament every year in the finals. Nothing better than seeing the look on the coaches face

Right, it's too funny. And, they lose in their crappy tournament to the likes of a Celtic CT team playing up a year.

FSA got killed for not sending their 15's to FL ..... shouldn't OW get killed the same as they make their older female teams play here rather than a bona fide showcase.

Well, they should, but they don't win their own tourney and, going forward, they are academy and will be a bunch of rec. and jv players, so it will get worse.

They have sent older teams to other tourneys - varies by team and year but they don't make everyone stay and play. But it does bring up a good question point - the event probably made some money for them, but if their girls teams no longer participate the event may fizzle altogether. Another lost revenue source unless they can beef it back up again

Why care so much. It's a tourney and a chance to play for kids. Why begrudge the kids?

Sure. Of course. After all, what else is there?

I think the gripe is that OPI really isn't that great an event and OW forces most of their teams to stay home that weekend and participate when there's lots of other more competitive events out there. Staying home to beat up on CJSA teams isn't development.

That is the feeling of many OW parents.

So I've been reading posts on this site now for a month or two so I'm fairly new to this. I keep coming across these references to OW veinless hot dogs. Were there some bad hot dogs at the OW snackbar or something???
