May be old news but it is important because it's so short sighted. National teams should be practicing together more, not less.

IMG from what I see is failing I have watched over the past 4 years age group after age group. They just don't have great core you cannot buy success it shows at IMG ! I wish it was true but its not Pay To Play at it's finest shows this does not work Passion and hard work in the sport is the only solution !

Let's hope. This is such a exclusive approach today and leaves out many players who develop a little late but ultimately become better players than those selectde so early and seem to just slip into the residency program by nature that they were picked at age 12. I always thought a more regional approach (even six teams) would work better and then call up from those team each year cycle. More players can get trained and then see who rises to the top when they stop growing at age 18 or so. Would also give more importance to the national training centers which seem to go nowhere and are more scrimmages than training...IMHO

IMG hangs in there (playoffs) by a thread each year in the boys DA, and would be so much better if they didn't have to roster everyone who pays full price. A model where they significantly discount players that make their U18 DA roster and get their revenue from others would be so much smarter for them. I don't know why they try to make money on each player at the expense of not rising to the top of the DA. They should consider the MLS model, where the best players, on limited rosters, don't pay, and put a carrot out there for kids to work toward that privilege. Their facilities are top of the line, and their teams should be top of the ranks.
