    USWNT Lose Big

Good thing the same people that have run the USWNT over the cliff are now going to do the same thing to youth soccer with their GDA. Can't wait...

    Ummmmmmmm, no.

The USWNT is full of the non-developed ECNL players.

Those players got to "compete" in the highest league in the land....

Trouble is, they didn't learn "how" to play the game.

Countries like France have a DA type system. They have past us in the programming that develop players because they are 6 years deep in their DA system. You only see us win because of our athletes not because of our style of play. We suck!

Problem is that US Soccer has been holding back development for years so they could win with bootball. USWNT only had interest in big fast girls with no touch so those are the girls that got moved up through the ODP system. Now they've been passed by about half a dozen other countries and can't figure out how to play any other way.

Bingo. At least the US is trying to get a few smaller, more skilled players on the pitch. The team still looks like an upper class white team with no worries though. Mommy & Daddy still pay everything for most of them. France was very diverse. Take the best players, not just the rich, tall ones. Passionate creative players not robots. Same problem on the men's side. Just going to get worse with GDA.

Here is a newsflash for you. ECNL is a league with most of the best players in the country and it is a feeder system for college soccer. In Oregon it is coached by the same local coaches who have been in the market for years. Now GDA is coming and it may water down some of the talent and may cause some colleges to now look at fishing in 2 ponds to get their talent and it too will be coached by the same local coaches who have been guiding the Timbers

If you're playing college soccer you've already been passed over. Truly elite players don't need four more years of marginal coaching. Study hard because 7K a year in the NWSL is not much to look forward to.

Here's a newsflash for you. Oregon will be lucky to get one girl on the national team once every 20-50 years. Ecnl and Gdap won't make any difference. Same girls, same coaches. Same picking early bloomers that use their size over smaller creative technical players.

Agree with your first points. As far as "picking early bloomers over smaller creative technical players", isn't a development issue across the entire US? Been happening for years on the boys side, and now that other countries are investing in the women's game, our athletic players can't compete.

Imagine if Oregon changed on its own. We could produce more elite players.

Our local neighborhood clubs have proven that the club choice of league for a given team makes no difference for our little minnow talented Girls.

Will this new platform for the truly exceptional player United States Girls Development Academy make a dent in the quality of players?

We all witness the failures of our independent club model of development, sadly.
