When the youth teams flame out we hear all the naysayers. Where are they now that the U20s are Concacaf champs

Gloating after being taken to a shootout against 'vaunted' Honduras. US soccer and their fans are made for each other.

Lighten up Francis. A cup is a cup. Nice to have some good news on the youth scene. First U20 championship ever.

How about losing the first game of the tournamentand then winning five straight including beating the favorite.

On one hand you kill the USWNT for dropping one of two vs Germany and England ..... two top five teams in the world but in the other hand you gloat for wins over honduras, el salvador, and Mexico but overlook Panama? Great for the U20s to win the rec league but how will they fare in the bigs? They really did benefit from a glut of weak opponents.

                Debby Downer?

I didn't kill the USWNT. I thought they women played well against great competition. I was just merely acknowledging a youth victory that the have never won. A rare bright spot for the USMen.

Mexico is hardly a pushover. Mexico has won the Youth World Cup and Olympics too.

PS. One of their best players wasnt even there, he was scoring a goal in the Bundesliga

Why was that guy playing league instead of representing his nation? Shameful.

This speaks well for boys' academy. GDA is looking better all the time.

However, the difficult question is, how can we parlay this U20 success into USMNT success?

Really, that guy? Show your ignorance some more. He already represents his country

it's not during a FIFA approved lull so clubs don't need to release players for youth competitions. That guy, Christian Pulisic, is on the full US national team and playing on Dortmund in the Bundesliga

As it relates to full USMNT give it some time. In a few cycles you will see several of these players joining Pulisic on the USMNT. Several of these players are already playing at great professional clubs (Porto, Fulham, Arsenal, etc). Some are in colleges. I believe most came up through the DA

If it were a United player and the team were England, the club would have let him go take care of his international obligations. But, it's none of that. It's the USA in Concacaf, which is pretty close to the bottom of international soccer.

Please ... stop the madness. You are embarrassing yourself

United wouldn't let Marcus Rashford go during a non FIFA window to play for the England youth team. Perhaps if he was only playing on United U23 team and not on the United or English first team

No ... ten years is a nothing in time. To change the US soccer culture, identity and players it will take longer then ten years

A club team will hardly ever release a player to represent their country for anything other than a FULL team obligation. Heck, they sometimes don't even release them for full team games. The US Men played a few weeks back with all MLS players.
