    NPL College Placements

Are the same caliber coaches/Universities seeing NPL kids? In what scenario can that happen? Is there any history of this?

Good question. I think CFCU and AC CT are doing decent job of sending boys to colleges - mostly local - I believe

I've got one graduating this year. There are opportunities out there, but it takes work. Without the DA showcase exposure he had to hustle more in getting the attention of coaches and doing more ID events/camps. Top D1 is almost impossible unless you're DA or have a foreign passport. But mine didn't want that so he's happy (wouldn't work with his major). But lower D1, D2, D3 for sure. Think about it - DA only graduates maybe 10-12 kids per team per year X 75 teams. That still leaves a lot of spots to be filled. From reading other threads it wounds like plenty of female NPL players do fine as well from OW, CFC, FSA and YU. ECNL also can't possibly fill all the spots out there.

The Yankee 8th grader was a NPL player
Prep schools have a large number of kids playing NPL

Outside of these extremes, parents and players need work harder to get on the radar. It's entirely possible but not always plausible

In general the high caliber D1s shop at either ECNL or DAP. However, exceptions do occur

I think another key difference is that with ECNL or DA virtually an entire roster will have a spot. On NPL only top starters will land well, a few others will land ok, and some will never land.

This is part of a great series of threads - someone on the MA boards compiles the college placements each year. Look it over to get a better sense where DA vs non DA kids end up. the other great thing this guy does is he will track kids over time to see how much PT kids get and how long they last. The net/net is the odds of playing four meaningful years is low, especially in hypercompetitive D1. As freshmen easily 1/3 never play and drop out either the next year or definitely by junior year. Another 1/3 may get some PT over time, another 1/3 have decent careers. It's a sobering, eye opening read. Use the search thread to find ones for 2016, 2015 etc with the same kind of commitment title. I don't know who does it but I thank him for it. It really brings home the need to focus on finding the right SCHOOL more than anything else. It also showed my some what was a realistic target given the level he was playing at in HS.
