    Lessons from football

If last night's game didn't prove the point that you need more than just athleticism to win at the highest levels of sport, I don't know what does. The Patriots are a case study in perseverance and mental toughness. So what are youth soccer team coaches doing to develop this trait in their players, especially their physically gifted players? Is this something that can be developed or is something some athletes just are born with? If it can be developed, how?

You need to look no further than the men's nat'l team to know that soccer players don't have it...
It sure as sh.t can't be coached.

The whole program and USSF is proof that without good management and vision the talent won't matter. Look at smaller countries with fewer athletes, money spent etc that do far better than we do. Where there's a will there's a way, and we don't have that

Go to Amazon and type in sports psychology. You'd be surprised at what you'll find.

It's a lot easier to play a sport where using your hands is allowed....I guarantee you most of these NFL players would look like retards if they stepped on a soccer field

You are always going to have your outliers:

There's not many 5'5" stars on a football field, nor are there many 6'6" 275-lb stars on the soccer pitch.

But, RBs & DBs could mix with many soccer players.
