I thought this was supposed to be small, concentrated, and cheap? Looks like they are copying the ecnl model to the boys side now too.

I have read in several places that some affiliates, including BS, are dropping out of the affiliate league. Now we know why

The affiliation made some sense for BS but also didn't. It did in that the affiliation was a great marketing tool, it let teams play other great young teams in the area, get advice from a pro organization etc. And there was the mind set that since truly top talent would go to an MLS club anyway you might as well be a part of it then to try and fight it. On the flipside it makes it even easier for kids to leave BS by getting them exposed to a pro club at an earlier age.

I wonder what the affiliates will do now - better to play those teams to develop young talent then say CCSL or NYCSL.

It's open war between USSF and ENPL. This was a grab at acquiring more teams to deprive enpl of additional reputable clubs. Honestly I don't think anyone wins.

The consumer wins by having more options. But that's it - it won't help soccer, just water it down more.

What's likely to develop over the next few years is that US Soccer is going to provide and facilitate "soccer"; US Club Soccer (ECNL, ENPL, iD2, etc) is going to provide and facilitate "American soccer".

It'll be similar to a school's NCAA Intercollegiate program and their club team offering.

I actually agree. Soccer is not a consumer driven activity anywhere else in the world, only in the US.

Our soccer relevance is not based on the work of professionals, but rather parents. The future is bright!

World Class backed out and is working in conjunction with NYCFC in Westchester

Although rumor has it EM did back out but they are on Long Island so probably not a driver on this

Why question NYCFC's inclusion? It'll be a TOP, fully funded program.

I am not questioning their participation per se but rather just adding any new clubs at this point as the regions were supposed to have been set. Will NE continue to add clubs and play 30 games while MW only plays 22? The league starts in a few months and stuff is still changing fast and furious. It is unnerving. As others have said, this is simply going to be ECNL 2.0 when it is all said and done (even the boys side appears to be going in the same direction). If ECNL got it all right, can't they just be declared the winner and let them go?
