FM is trying to stir up the pot. He's lost many kids to Select and Coastal and also has no love lost for TD

He is trying to get the kids he's lost back. Not sure it will happen. He offers nothing better or different.

Be wary of the guy they have hired to run the region. Ask anyone who's D has played for him in Duxbury.

To be fair, these were not "A teams" of committed players he was working with. C team and rec players who wanted a club experience which is what DFC affords. That being said, very disorganized practices. More of a social hour for him and his favorites. They seemed to be doing PK's at the end of every practice. I agree it makes sense to work on PK's once in a while, but every week? They were playing in low level MAPLE league, and I don't recall them ever even drawing a penalty. No instruction whatsoever during winter Futsal. This wasn't a Futsal league, it was winter indoor training and he would just put the girls out and have them scrimmage with no instruction or coaching. All the girls hated Futsal. On his phone texting A LOT during games and practices, and I know he wasn't using it as a clock. All the parents noticed. He had a mate that helped out as an assistant coach, but wasn't registered or rostered, so the refs wouldn't let him on the sideline during some games. So asst. would stand on the spectator side and help coach from there and get texts from the coach. Parent communication would come and go. Started strong the first couple weeks and then would drop off significantly. Never saw any improvement in team play and he had the same group of girls for a 1.5 years. Little to no feedback on individual players and strengths or opportunities for improvement. Playing time certainly not commensurate with commitment to the team. Girls that rarely practiced often got far more playing time. Killed interest in soccer for many of the girls, at least 50% of which are no longer playing.

DFC Parent
Would have to say definite troll... or delusional parent who thought their child was the best thing since sliced bread. The guy coached my daughter for 3 seasons, he was terrific. The girls were the first team in the club, they were parent coached for years. Calling them rec players is pretty accurate, but I guess that's true for most division 3 maple teams. The team loved him, his energy and his knowledge. Parents loved his commitment, honesty, hard work and communication. I can honestly say that he went above and beyond.
Why you felt that your poisonous, warped view was pertinent to the topic is beyond me. Maybe your daughter didn't win an end of season award? Neither did mine but I'm not slandering anyone.
As I recall, the girls' last season was when you a bunch of players from other clubs joined. Notoriously poor clubs both from a coaching and attitude perspective. As you noted, these girls were hardly committed from day one. The PK practice was optional, for anyone who wanted to carry on after training was done while they waited for their parent to pick them up. I was there, I asked him about it, you clearly sat in your car and drew conclusions on something you know nothing about.
All coaches are qualified and registered at the club, the one time another assistant was sent to the game to observe he did not have his passcard. I think it's fair to say you have not portrayed him very well at all.

There are definitely was too many clubs, it's so saturated! I heard that FML has lost or fired a few regional directors, he must be desperate to shake things up. It's an overpriced program that try to use the lure of ECNL to bring players in. Coastal is just a disgusting though. If I had to pick, maybe I'd pick CSU or whatever they are now Liverpool? In relation to the guy'said character, maybe that should be a whole other thread lol

Can't believe I'm going to do this, but here goes. Maybe I am a troll, but one who is just expressing a most certainly on-topic opinion on this anonymous message board, which is what its made for. I portrayed him accurately based on experience with him. Perhaps a bit harsh, but hardly slanderous or poisonous (I like that one). He's a very personable and nice guy, I just don't think a very good youth coach. Maybe a better fit for boys or different ages
The girls may have been first team within the club, but let's be honest, the best players from the town don't play for DFC. That's why I said they were C team or rec players. No delusions about my D ability, DFC was the right level and fit for her. The majority of better players in town on the girls side in this age range were at DU or PTUSA/Coastal or SSS.
PK practice was definitely not optional. He's a pleasant enough guy, but never saw evidence of being receptive to parental feedback. Vast majority of the girls on the team last year were also DFC lifers and not from other clubs, 1 or 2 at the most.
Every youth head coach I know keeps all of the passcards with them, including asst coaches, so they always have them. No excuse for a qualified and registered coach to show up to a game without one. And it happened more than once.

I've had mostly positive experiences with multiple kids and clubs in youth soccer. Compared to others that get discussed on TS, he's not nearly as bad
