    GPS FC Bayern National Team?

I was just researching GPS and stumbled upon their player development pathway. The top of the pyramid is the FC Bayern National Team. Does anyone have any experience with this team? How does it work? Who do they play? I was surprised that their Academy program wasn't even mentioned in the development pathway.

Well if you kept clicking the links on the site you may have found more info.

I just checked the program out.

It appears to be a pseudo-DA program with "Elite Training Centers" instead of the US Soccer NTC's.

The funny part is that they require you to buy a whole new kit if you make the "National Team."

It's nice to know that all the hard work your kid puts in doesn't go unpunished.

Until they hand my son free Adidas cleats he'll wear whatever cleats he is most comfortable with. What is the potential incremental cost of making this team? Does GPS offer scholarships?

GPSEnvy guy enjoying some down time during the holidays I see.
Bayern National Team is simply a tournament team. It doesn't threaten your kid, or impact your club.

Concept is simple, more like a self-run ODP than DA. GPS has multi-region presence (ME, MA, NY, Fl, NC, OR, etc.). They gather a pool of invited players a few times a year for training, From that pool a Bayern team is chosen. That team is entered into a tournament over the summer. Merit-based invites, but incremental costs to families. Financial support available for those that have to ask. Our experience: Didn't actually incur incremental cost for Unis nor was Adidas enforced. D played in her trusted boots and existing kit. Had a great time and made new friends. GPS should drop the "National" from the name tho, and just go with "Bayern"

It's because you aren't specifically saying academics are more important than soccer and falling all over a NESCAC.

Why doesn't Rush brand theirs with some European club name and call it a "National Team?" Don't they know anything about marketing?

Rush is even more like Dunkin Donuts - they're about saturating the market with as many branches as possible with little concern about quality at the local level. We've got 3 branches in CT - 2 suck, one has a few ok younger teams nothing HS aged or that competes at any decent level.
