SoCal 06 player relocating to PDX: club rec?

The wife and I are Portland natives moving (running?) back after 15 years in LA. Our oldest is a 2006 who - if we stayed - would be moving in the spring to one of the DAs (likely Galaxy, LAFC, or TFA...though the latter would be a stretch for him).

So my question is: are there any u12 clubs in the area who are ruthless about requiring the kids to play out of the back? Any clubs that are head-and-shoulders above the rest when it comes to the level of training? Any to avoid?

Thanks in advance. Dad is nervous.

    Dear Dad is Nervous,

If you came to this board for actual advice, you made a mistake. If you came here for pettiness and bickering, then you found the right spot. As you are the father of a boy, you will find that you will rarely if ever visit this place as boy's soccer is not discussed on here. Going to practices and asking parents will usually yield far better information than any you will get here. And if you have a daughter, you might want to reconsider that relocation.

Stay away from anything labelled "Timbers". Don't say you weren't warned.

What side of town are you on? If travel doesn't matter and if your son is playing on the higher end look at Academia de Futbol (ADF) . Go out and have him attend a practice and see how he fits in with the group. It's a highly talented group of kids from all over the city. There are no "B" teams there. Each coach there is paid well and they only have one team so kids get a lot of good attention. If you want a club that will offer DA just pick the club closest to where you live. They are all the same.

Is "ADF" not DA? As in, the best training/team is outside of DA?

            That's odd, no?

What a coincidence! I'm moving to Portland next month from SoCal too! I have 05, 06, 07 and 08 girls that were all playing on nationally top ranked programs. I'm worried about where to place them. Is there a local club that is adamant about playing it out of the back and punishing the keeper for any punts? Any clubs play beautiful flowing soccer in the manner of Barca? Are there any clubs that fit my criteria? I expect top level development and D1 full rides. I'm very nervous they might not find the right fit. Thanks in advance to all you beautiful talking soccer people.

I have 2006 triplets that we're all starting for the best SoCal club. Wife is relocating to Portland. I'm a stay at home house husband. I'd like to get the three into the best local club. They must be stern about playing out of the back. Any suggestions?

Eastside Timbers is the best option in Portland. Hands down.

Eastside Timbers are the top girls program in the area.

Avoid FC Portland, if you want play out the back. At least with their 05s, their keeper could have a career as an NFL punter.

No local club is "ruthless" about play out of the back, but some are better than others about excessive long balls.
