It is an excuse for a mediocre coach of a mediocre university to justify their position and get a free trip out to Portland. The Portland Cup used to be a huge summer tournament back in the day. What has happened at that club? It always makes me laugh how all you FC PDX people are still convinced the club develops players. It really does not matter who the host of a local "showcase" tournament is. You are not going to get a bunch of D1 coaches from across the region or nation to attend because Oregon does not produce a bunch of D1 players.
