Try outs 4/1 - This is a new date right?

    From FYSA:

    401.6 TRY-OUTS
Organizations affiliated with FYSA may hold any try-out or player identification activity, related to the formation of teams for the next seasonal year involving players IN ALL AGE GROUPS on April 1st or after provided the following guidelines are met:
Tryouts or other activities are publicly advertised and open to all age-appropriate players.
Players remain bound to their existing club for the current seasonal year pursuant to provisions contained in Rule 207.6.
Violations may result in the Club’s affiliation with FYSA being reviewed, and it may be denied by the BOD

That's just the date of the new West Pines United Mixer where the coaches can meet all the new hot soccer moms.

      P.S. Uggos need not attend.

So tryouts will be two months earlier this year? That will be awkward if leaving the team when you still have almost two months of soccer left in the year.

The rule was changed at the AGM. Clubs can now decide when to hold tryouts. Clubs that are not affiliated with US Club no longer have to wait until after Memorial Day.

this is going to be a logistical nightmare. Hold tryouts possibly right in the middle of state cup time, so possible to cut a player and yet still have him/her on the roster for state cup for next two months

Blame us club soccer for the mess. They hold NPL try outs in April, which creates the real mess. FYSA is just trying to combat which is good.

Smart families take their kids to "practices at other club ahead of time anyway. Time to give up pretending. But the timing is less than ideal. It should at least be pushed back to May.

Attending another teams practice is against the rules (unless you have existing clubs written permission.) This can get the coach suspended by fysa for poaching.

Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, nor does it stop them from trying out, I mean practicing, at non FYSA clubs

Yep, until you see some better enforcement by FYSA some clubs will continue to try and game the system.

Nothing reinforces the love of the game than a 10 year old needing to go to his coach or DOC for permission to practice at another club. I am beginning to think that the mafia runs youth soccer. They have clearly defined geographical areas with the 10 or 15 mile rule prohibiting new clubs and competition. They rule by fear and extortion... Youth sports what fun

Truth. Step on someone's toes and you'll get ratted out to the authorities or taken out in other ways (like disparaging clubs on the TS :) ). The mob also rarely cares if there's some civilian/collateral damage in their turf wars either

This rule was created because a well known President of a club whined to the FYSA powers that be that all the clubs around him had an unfair advantage because they held US Club memberships so he was losing out on all the good players.

Last time I checked, they had over 70 competitive teams - this was just a ploy to gain a bigger upper hand than they already have.

Remember the saying about the Golden Goose - they feed FYSA plenty of $$$, so in return things get slanted a little more in their favor.

It's not going to stop the "other clubs" from having tryouts if they hold US Club membership. Also, AYSO is talking about Competitive programs. If FYSA keeps messing with the clubs, they will find other places to play and still do the required minimum to maintain an FYSA charter in case they need to switch gears.

Unfortunately they think everybody is stupid.
