PYSA cancelling weekend games due to weather.

Normally rec soccer is out of scope here, but due to the Big Nasty Storms coming this weekend, Portland Youth Soccer Association (Portland's rec league) is cancelling all games.

Haven't heard anything from THJSL or any other rec leagues.

OYSA competitive games seem to be going on as scheduled, though many grass fields are reportedly in poor condition already, prior to the oncoming deluge. I am aware of a few field closures and schedule changes in competitive soccer.

    Update from OYSA

    Update from OYSA:

Please read the entire email – lots happening this weekend.

DO NOT head to any game without first checking the OYSA schedules page for this weekend as everything is changing quickly.

As you might expect, many field owners are closing fields for the weekend and Affinity is getting updated as quickly as we can do it. Several clubs have written saying decisions have still not been made so continue to watch Affinity for all updates. That is the ONLY OFFICIAL website for league games.

When a game is canceled, it is actually unscheduled from the system so the game disappears from your schedule. We have not found any other way to code a game as canceled. Make sure you hit your refresh key when looking at the schedules so the most recent schedules are visible. Please make sure you update your Team Snap (or similar) communication tools.

As of now – ALL games will be played in Bend, Eugene, Corvallis, Medford, Klamath Falls. If your team is playing in these cities, most all clubs have confirmed games will occur as scheduled.

I have been told the games in Astoria for Sunday WILL be played. They’re plugging the fields today and expect all to be fine for Sunday. Will advise if that changes.

While several fields have closed, we are moving games to turf when we can. This is being done at OES (to Tektronix or the OES turf) and Lane CC (to the track turf field). In order to make some of these work, the 9v9 games are going to occur every 75 minutes instead of every 90. We really need those teams to get off fields immediately after their game has finished so the next games can start on time.

    CONFIRMED fields closed so far:
    · French Prairie (Woodburn)
    · Tom McCall (Forest Grove)
    · Thatcher Park (Forest Grove)
    · Gradin Community Park (all games moved to turf)
    · Westside (Hood River)
    · Athey Creek (all games moved to turf)
    · Wallace Marine Park (Salem)

    PENDING field closures
    · CFC Soccer Complex (Salem)
    · THPRD grass fields (Beaverton)

If your games are canceled for this weekend, please work directly with your opponent to reschedule the game. To get contact information for your opponent, here is what you will need to do since the canceled game will not be in your schedules. When in the schedules, click on the team name of your opponent in the standings, that will pull up the schedules for that team and when you click on their name in any of the games, that will give you the phone numbers and email addresses for the team leaders.

Hopefully I have addressed any questions you may have, but write me if not. I am getting to all the emails as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience as we get through all of these changes and cancellations. Please forward this email to all team leaders so they are kept in the loop.

      What about Harmony?

I had my first experience with that ... uhh "soccer complex" ... last weekend. What a joke of a parking lot. Even if their fields are fine I'm sure the parking mud bog is undriveable.

Somebody destroyed the grass fields by joyriding all over them in a truck. They are basically unplayable but WashT will still schedule games on them. Parking lot is even worse. Don't drive in there without a 4x4.

Last week I watched a guy speed through the lot. Splashing mud on cars, nearly spraying a little girl getting out of her car. Races up to the field,. drop off young son in WA Timbros gear (maybe 10-y/o) and speeds off again. So typical for Vantucky

LOTS of games being cancelled this weekend. Check OYSA website; if a game disappears, it's cancelled.

Especially games being played on grass.

Sounds like a Hillbilly thing to do. She must be in charge of OYSA.
