    Matchfit declines DA...Reasoning is...

I suspect other clubs who thought they could do both are also thinking similarly. Some in major markets/less competition might be able to pull it of but many will not. hen there's the fact that some of the clubs they added aren't that great, it's a risky uncertain affair, attracting talent will be an issue, lower revenue....I heard two others clubs dropped out as well in CA.

Their arguments make total sense. ECNL is probably the best fit for most girls anyway. The DA is going to have an uphill battle trying to convince good and even great players to dedicate themselves to DA soccer and nothing else.

I feel there will need to be some middle ground solution to this mess. One idea I read about is that the DA should work with ECNL and Non-ECNL clubs and have an ODP type flavor. They would take the regional all-star teams and training them on a periodic basis and also have a couple of month long high intensity windows during the year where there could be 4-5 practices/games/scrimmages a week. This would only work if the clubs encouraged their best players participate ... no easy task. And then the politics would be messy.

I like this because then there would be real competition for National team slots and allow the best players to be evaluated together first at a regional level and then beyond. Today only ECNL kids get a shot at the National team camps for the most part.

They had a lot of different ways they could have approached it, but USSF decided they didn't want to work with ECNL and wanted a complete take over. GDA isn't going to flop but it won't be what USSF wants, not at all. There will be two watered down leagues. While it will be good that girls will have more choices, it won't do anything to lift US soccer.

          Completely agree 100%

If a coach or a doc at a club tells you otherwise then he/she is lying.

If ECNL is motivating their teams to drop out to get back to USSF they are shooting themselves in the foot. They knew about all these glitches and still jumped into DA's wagon being afraid of being left out. Why did they apply then?
I hope now USSF call their bluff with totally burn the bridge with who is jumping out now. USSF should stick to their plan and create the environment where top players will come in and coaches there are responsible for the NT. The only major issue that needs some kind of their compromise is HS soccer.

No, USS rules whether you like or not. Big mistake by MF, will be on the outside looking in.

F the USSF. There is zero in their track record that indicates they know what they are doing.

Be in charge of this mess is the first step towards building good track record. Clubs,DOC or leagues can't control the outcome of NT as it is now. It is not working and the decline is evident and at fast pace.

Exactly. And we're talking about Match Fit here people, not PDA or So Cal Blues.

                      This is interesting:

"Condensing our ECNL teams from 6 to 3 DA teams, and then not having a quality league to provide for the remaining players, would hurt our club."

Does this mean US Club Soccer intends to disqualify a club from participating in ECNL/NPL if it does DAP? I hadn't heard that, but what else would they mean by "not having a quality league to provide for the remaining players"?

Then feel free to go start your very own soccer federation. See where that goes.

                          2. The DA saturated the North East by adding too many clubs. Not only does this hurt our player pool it additionally diluted the standard of the DA.
This is the real issue. There are too many overlapping clubs in NY/NJ so there is no real opportunity for a club like MatchFit to actually get the sort of players the program is going to require in order to be competitive. I think you are going to see the same thing in Mass between the Stars and NEFC

So what are the chances Stars or Breakers pull out of DA too? Or do they play chicken with each other and see what the other does first? Will they both try to manage both, or does somehow NEFC leverage something with Breakers to get DA or ECNL so they could in fact "kinda" manage both? Just thinking out loud here.

All interesting questions that will impact a lot of local girls here.

How about FL - they have seven clubs!
