    '99 FSPL Boys Thread

Looking for the guy who posted the predictions for the U16 group last year. Where you at, missing your posts!

Season started this weekend and so far looks like a strong result by OCYS and a surprise result for WFF.

    Other scores?

I am taking the youthsoccerrankings.us approach. With all the birth-year switch it is going to take a while for things to shape up, let's get a couple weekends under our belts first.

Not sure how much time and effort I can put into that this season, we'll see!

          Ugly Week

Wow. What an ugly week. Looks like there are maybe two or three good teams, maybe more - but there are definitely a few teams that should not be there at all.

Could it have been a lack of conditioning exposed on half the teaams?

Good point. Might be a correlation between those teams that fared poorly and teams that had trouble getting practices in during the stormy season. Was hot as heck out there.

My comment about conditioning was a little more critical than that. Stormy weather could explain rusty play and poor touches, but lack of conditioning is independent of weather and a shortcoming of the team and coaches.

The team we played SATURDAY had 4-5 players that were gassed midway thru the second half, bending over with their hands on their knees when the ball went out and many cramping up. Nobody on our team was looking like that.

Not to blow our own horn, but it was noticeable on the first day and I noted that they looked out of shape compared to our team. When the fields were closed due to rain our team brought running shoes and had a good conditioning workout.

On Saturday? We didn't utilize our bench any more than them by them by the middle of the second half.

so you ran them off the field in the first half with a deeper bench and left your scrubs in for the second half when the game was well in hand?
