They already have dozens of clubs signed up. Lot of non-MLS clubs want out of the DA very badly.

Don't confuse bad clubs getting kicked out of the DA as them wanting to leave the DA.

They are in Jeopardy of being removed by US soccer so they will need to find a state or regional league that suits them if they do get the axe.

Teams/clubs get demoted all the time the way of life in soccer.

THEN you land in a lower-tier league, perhaps the boys ecnl can become like the girls ecnl, the hopeful second tier league acrossr the country 17-18

I'm not the OP - but I would say my concern or lack of being impressed by the boys DA is about the results of the U.S. men's team. No Olympics, no titles for the younger teams that feed into the national team, no sign whatsoever that the state of men's soccer has improved one iota since DA started. Isn't that the stated goal of DA? And they've had 10 years on the boys' side to accomplish that goal? If you were a boss and DA was your employee, you would have fired them by now.

This is apples and oranges. The entire rest of the world only cares about men's soccer and really, nothing else. They certainly don't care about women's soccer. They pour more money, resources, talent, everyone is all in for men's soccer. It's really not surprising the USA women have done well. The rest of the world doesnt care. And to our credit, when all things equal we can roll out a better team. That's what's going on with the ladies.

The men's side will take 10, 20, 30 more years. And that assumes that the soccer wave in the USA continues to grow.

Agree but I think the point is that the DA isn't helping improve the boys/men's side in the US. After 10 years, shouldn't we try something else? Or at least make some big changes to the DA? Doing the same thing over & over and expecting different results is folly.

Ok. Just for a moment imagine that your boss puts you in charge of the most important project in your company's history. All company resources are thrown behind your project. There is no competition within the United States to develop your project - you are the only game in town.

Fast forward 10 years. You have made zero tangible progress. Your boss calls you in for a project update and you say "well...listen...other countries are working on this project too. It's going to be another 10, 20, 30 years before my project comes to fruition. Be patient." How many seconds would it take for you to get fired?

That's why the ECNL is starting a boys league.

By the same token are you not impressed that US Soccer has produced WC champions, Olympic champions and filled the rosters of the NCAA champions with national level players since 1991? Nearly 30 years of success with players coming from USYS & US Club league play, and state & regional ODP teams?

Ask your Dad or Husband to stop watching American Football in the Fall on Sunday's, also quit watching NBA Basketball and MLB and abolish the Fantasy leagues so those sports aren't able to dominate the TV Market's and have control of our sporting nation.

America hasn't given up on male soccer it's trying everything they can to become better in the face of a sporting culture that has no love for the male sport of Soccer. Throw in the TV money for UFC and NASCAR and you may better understand why our country is so far behind World Football, it doesn't exist even by it's proper name in the USA male sports landscape.

Girls Soccer is played for fun and social development, actually and it's great US Soccer wants to create a Top Tier for the nation's best clubs and players given the current culture. What's your problem?

Girls soccer coaching jobs have the lowest level of interest and quality available as the best coaches choose to coach first in the MLS, USL, NASL, NPSL, NCAA Mens, NAIA Mens, Boys Club teams, even Boys HS teams before ever considering to coach any level of girls soccer. Unless they can make more money coaching girls, which is the only leverage girls soccer holds over boys soccer. Like they say coaching girls is like coaching underwater soccer compared to male soccer.

Understand for just one moment that Men's Soccer is not a participant or stakeholder in this country's sporting culture, instead all of the sporting male devotees worship American Football, American Basketball and American Baseball athletes and are willing to watch it above all other activities.

Throw in very limited scholarships for male athletes playing Soccer compared to the 90+ American Football scholarships, 8x the number of players on the field, Basketball has 15 scholarships 3x number of players on the court. Look at the salaries of american NFL, NBA and MLB players compared to americans playing in the MLS. It's not tough to figure out why we suck at Soccer.

IT'S NOT A SPORT OF CHOICE FOR OUR BEST ATHLETES AND NO ONE IS WILLING TO PAY FOR TV ADVERTISING DOLLARS FOR A SPORT THAT DOESN"T HAVE A NATIONAL AUDIENCE.

Maybe in your world a boys ECNL will change all that. LOL

Sounds like MLS DA clubs want to be on their own anyway, maybe the other clubs would be better off breaking for ENPL.
