Will ECNL Fold Immediately or Just Be Relegated?

It's a fair question. My bet is relegated to 2nd tier for about 1 year them fold. But I guess it could fold immediately upon GDA rollout. Hard to say which.

    Does GDA begin in 2017?

It will come down to whether ECNL is willing to become 2nd fiddle and reduce travel to just a few tournaments. If so, ECNL could relegate to feeder to GDA, and stay alive. Anything else and it dissolves quickly. No one will pay 10k for lower tier ECNL.

Lonely night in Beaverton, huh? I get it. You threw all your eggs in the Thorns academy basket and your payout is sandbagging against crappy teams and earning the scorn of everyone in youth soccer. It's natural to want to deflect some of that negativity away and give yourself something else to think about. But be careful what you wish for. If ECNL did end up second tier, their players would take your kid's spot. And you'd have to go crawling back to your home club after thumping their C team this weekend.

Do you really not understand? He is saying that ECNL is fading towards recreational soccer. You can already say that about Oregon ECNL teams.

I know the ECNL is here now and still will be the truly Elite league that college coaches seek their talent from. ECNL will stay play their games this fall and no DA. ECNL will play their games next spring and NO DA. 2017-2018 season is a long way away

Most of us have to guess when we will die. The ECNL has the luxury of having a countdown clock they can set to days, hours, minutes and seconds. The beautiful noise of the kickoff whistle of the first GDA signals it's over. Let the countdown begin.

Looking forward to the girls from the 2017-18 Thorns Academy team dishing out about $15,000 per year for what?

What is the end game here and why would someone flush all that money down the toilet. If the Thorns wanted to act like they were relevant you would think they would play in relevant events

Already enjoying the insanity of local clubs spending thousands and thousands of dollars to have their daughters airmailed to be slaughter to other clubs in Idaho, Was, Utah, AZ & San Diego. Why would someone spend that kind of money to send 10 local club teams across the Western US just to be roadkill for other clubs. If these parents and clubs had one clue they would of formed just one team per age group at JUST ONE CLUB and at least have an idea how they stacked up vs the competition. Instead they doubled down, on a crap deal. and now are deep in debt with nothing to show. They never got out of the toilet.

If you thought your daughter had game then you should have joined and consolidated all the top talent. Have fun with your scholarship to Cal Baptist or Evergreen

So how is your dd? Does she know she's not fast, just faster than the other special Olympians? Everyone gets a medal. Karl the short bus driver sends his best.

Dying is not being able to win the local OYSA league, playing in the silver division at the Vegas Cup and tying an WST team that was 4th in the State Cup in Beaverton Cup.

The BEAVERTON CUP for God's sakes!

Think about this idea. The thorns program only exists because people are willing to send their kids too it. They have no track record of girl youth development and it was no way near a good idea the previous years. They rely on outside coaches and hire them on like a contractor. The coaches hired didnt have a great track record of attendance or impact in previous years.

Because now thorns get into a newly created league run by the same people who are failing mens soccer. They require only coaches that have their so called licenses that have questionable merrit an are held by many not good coaches.

They now expect people now should give them alot of money and put alot of trust into them.

You want to say you play for the "thorns" academy then join up.

A better question is how long will it take for the GDA to fold, if it actually gets started. ECNL will remain the #1 league for a long time as they offer the more attractive package all-around: lower cost, less travel, better competition, college-like substitution rules, HS sports, etc.

In Oregon, Thorns can't offer anything except a patch that means nothing as evidenced by results from the Beaverton Cup this weekend.
