    U10s can't play up?

When exactly did that happen? Apparently everybody can play up except U10s. I'm assuming this has something to do with the "no header" rule, which is also a bad rule and sets USA soccer back even further than the rest of the world.

No not really we are already pretty far back and not letting a 9 year old head the ball doesn't change a thing, but then again you knew anything about soccer you would not make such a dumb statement

So we are not a world soccer power because our 10's and under won't be able to head a ball? Get the coaches to teach first touch, chest a ball down, running patterns, then complain about not being able to head a ball.

Anybody who knows anything about soccer knows that heading is a skill set. It is a very big part of the game just like first touch, passing, etc. but don't think for a minute heading isn't a skill set. What do you think the rest of the world would say about this "no heading" rule? No other country does this.

It's embarrassing IMO and quite frankly just shows how soft of a country we have become. In more than just soccer for that matter

Of course it's a skill set. But delaying learning it for 2-3 years isn't going to hinder a player's ability to do it effectively as they get older. It's not as difficult a skill to learn as say a quality first touch or passing. We have so many other things that need fixing and heading doesn't even make it into the top 5, or probably top 10

So winning soccer games and the remote possibility that your child plays for the national team are far more important than their health? Okay, I am good with that.

If you force corners to be on the ground and force keepers to play out the back (things they should probably do when young anyways) you eliminate much of the headers. This is what they should do. Make u10s play out the back and make all corners on the ground. You do this and kids are better players. Heading is not a big part of the game at u10. The rule is silly. You accomplish more by adding in rules like I mentioned that help in kids' development.

I've played the game for 30+ years and I've never gotten a concussion from heading the soccer ball. I've also never been in a game in those 30+ years where it even appeared that it happened to anybody else on the soccer field.

You teach kids the proper way to head the ball and you will have no problems.

Just another thing to soften up our country some more.

I have no problems with the idea behind the build out line. The only issue with that is you have plenty of coaches that are trying to find a way to cheat their way around that. I've seen coaches tell their GK to roll the ball slowly to the outside backs very slowly to the point where the ball comes to a complete stop and then they have their defensive player run up and kick it as hard as possible down to the other end of the field. Sometimes adding rules just creates more issues.

Well Gramps, I can give the names of ten kids in my town who have. One so severe he missed months of school and had to stay back a year. This rule won't fix everything, but it can help. It certainly isn't going to kill soccer.

Well they obviously weren't taught and didn't head the ball the correct way. In no way, shape or form should 10 kids be getting concussed from heading a soccer ball in just 1 town.

The next thing that will happen is a kid is going to get kicked in the face because now that they can't head the ball you will now get lots of high kicks. This already has happened.

Not the op but more concussions come from players cracking their heads together when both go to head the ball. No training can teach that but delaying heading will help reduce it. Concussions are also diagnosed much more often now than when gramps played. The seriousness should not be made light of

LOL if that is the case then we may has well outlaw heading all together. The game only gets more physical as you get older.

Is this official? I heard it might be a rule.
