Very few college coaches at Regionals

Amazing how few college coaches bother to scout at Regionals. Aren't these supposed to be the best of the best players in Region IV? Wonder how come 4-5 times this many attend ECNL showcases? Hmmm...

Hmmm...they don't have to register to attend and often send or ask someone else to observe for them. Happens alot when budgets are tight.

A lot of coaches are also club coaches as well.

You've uncovered the reason US Soccer is creating a Girls DA.

The is ECNL was built and structured to cater to D1 women's soccer coaches recruiting efforts. Developing players, coaches and meaningful leagues/competitions were passed over during this process.

Now the college coaches are going to have to do some legwork and proper evaluation.

The final nail in the coffin for the ECNL happened when the added fodder teams into the fold from Oregon, Utah and Idaho.

Girls DA will be stillborn, if it's lucky. Certainly won't happen in Oregon.

ECNL does all of the things, and more, that the USSDA says it will do, and at a lower cost. Top level development of players and coaches, top level competition, showcase tournaments specifically for scouting, low costs on a dollar per hour of training basis, travel costs similar to what other top level teams pay to play in top tournaments.

If that's really the case and the ECNL is cleaning up it's act, welcome back Crossfire United and FC Portland to the OYSA!

FC and CU are solid clubs in ECNL. Sorry you can't understand that and are stuck in the Neanderthal believe that your Timbers club is actually good for something. You know there's a reason why no other Oregon clubs were invited to join ECNL, right? It wasn't because there were already too many in the league...

They do play in OYSA. Their "B" and "C" teams regularly beat up on Timbers "A" teams. That is, when Timbers clubs actually HAVE HS aged girls teams, which isn't very often.

my daughter plays ECNL and this list is just as long as her events. There are no NJCAA schools at the ECNL events though. I've actually been disappointed in how many actually show up to ECNL games.

2 clubs from Oregon in the ECNL have really benefited the perception of Oregon talent and coaching. Great point.

Sure your DD plays ECNL. If she did you'd know that literally hundreds of college coaches attend every showcase.

I believe what the writer meant to say was even with literally hundreds of college coaches at the San Diego Showcase none of them contacted my dd after the event and still to this date, nada. Even after emailing over 30 of them to come watch her play. Depressing.

I've been to three personally and there has never been 100 coaches at my DD's game
                          EVER!

I think the numbers at my daughters games at showcases usually hovers around 60 to 70 usually D1. Many, many more are at showcases but usually 60ish make it to the sidelines to scout our games. That is pretty good. There are many kids that don't get contacted Sophomore years, none really get to much as Freshman with most commitments happening Junior and Senior year.

This whole thread is just a troll. Thanks ECNL fanboy.

Of course there are more coaches at a "showcase" event. Thats the whole point.
Why be bitter about another team doing well and playing in a regional tourney? The point of playing isn't always about college recruitment. Especially U13-U15.

My daughter is going to Boise this weekend. She is happy, her teammates are excited. Good enough. Good luck to all the Oregon teams!
