    CSU becoming LFC International Academy

CLUB STATEMENT ON GROWING LIVERPOOL FC PARTNERSHIP

After three years as a Liverpool FC Affiliate Club, CS United is excited to announce that we have partnered more formally with LFC and will become an International Academy for the 2016-2017 season.

On June 20, 2016, CS United Soccer Club will officially rebrand to LFC International Academy Massachusetts. Over the next two months, you'll notice changes to our website, social media accounts and general branding as we transition into our new identity.

There are stringent standards that have to be met to become an approved Liverpool International Academy and we are honored to have been given this opportunity to join the world's greatest football family. Being an LFC International Academy Club provides greater support and resources to our players, staff and families from one of the world's top soccer clubs.

Our coaches will be guided by the development and technical programming implemented by Liverpool's renowned Academy and the four components of The Liverpool Way: Ambition, Commitment, Dignity, and Unity. These components will serve as the core values for our club and will influence all efforts put into place to ensure our players' development on the field and off.

As we move forward into this exciting new phase for our club, coaches and members, we invite you to contact us with any questions you may have.

I think you are underestimating how much just changing the name will matter. CSU is a stupid name that no kids want to play for on name recognition. Tons of kids will want to play for "Liverpool".

Current skills sessions are LFC created & organized. LFC Academy coaches also run the summer camp and club invests on playing the LFC Way. My daughter's coach reinforces these and chats about them on a weekly basis. We see the benefits and are happy with them and the new direction... have been told it will cost us $0 moving forward.

This is the only way the word Academy would ever be associated with CSU.

No DAP means no future for older players.

I'd imagine that they are getting a new website... similar to the LFC America group out of Texas, SC, FL, CA, Mich, etc...

                    http://www.liverpoolfcamerica.com/

Bigger LFC family here in the states

At least 50% of the kids playing at CSU have never seen a Liverpool game, nor could they name more than a player or two. This all looks great on paper but really means nothing in real terms.

So does this mean they are merging officially with the other Spirit of Liverpool club out of MA or will there be two separate Liverpool branded clubs in the state?

This will have zero bearing on players joining/leaving the club. It's not a bad thing but really irrelevant. Parents just want good training and for their kid to play on a decent team. The rest isn't that important.

My daughter has played for CSU for 3 years and the last time LFC came to Boston, she went to a LFC camp in Brookline run by their Academy staff. That week the club had tickets to the LFC vs Roma game at Fenway, which we went to. Their residential camp has 2 LFC academy coaches who help run the camp and had video and interactive sessions about the history of the club and playing the liverpool way. I'm also pretty certain that if a kid likes the game that they have easy access to watching the BPL on TV every weekend.

Viewing games or having knowledge of LFC is in my opinion much easier than watching or knowing about Bayern. We are also of Irish descent and the LFC brand / team is much more palatable for us as a "soccer family".

You can crap on the idea, but for us we are elated as fans of LFC and members of the club.
