Local ECNL Applying for UDSA Girls -?

I understand that the local ECNL Clubs are applying for the girls academy. Keeping that in mind and that at least knowing one these DOC has stated that they expect to get it.... what does that say about ECNL? They are ready to bolt for the "new and better thing". If find that comical.

Yup. His ego always comes first. He's on the boards so he has first knowledge of what's coming, so sign him up. Er, I mean, get his club and his partner club signed up too.

I suspect it's a little bit of "covering their bases".
How may age groups does USDA offer vs. ECNL?

Yeah well maybe having 7 teams in the area will entice players to play on the team in the area they live so the crazy diving will stop and the teams will reman competitive with each other. .

Only the MLS clubs have already been invited to participate in the Girls USDA in 2017, the GM for the Timbers has indicated they will take the only spot on the table for Oregon.

Expect that one of these DOC you mention has joined the Timbers org, congrats1

Of course they are applying for DA

                1. The model of clubs like Fc Portland isn't developing players, it's selling snake oil to recruit developed players and tout wins while doing little to help the players already there. Dont believe me? That's been their model post Clive, especially on the girls side, they just don't do so well recruiting boys because west side and other clubs have a better history. They need a program to recruit or they have to rely on their development which is a joke.

                2. They already sold ecnl as the next best thing while taking huge rosters to keep costs down, win at all costs and recruit recruit all sacrificing developing their players. If they don't get DA they will be stuck trying to sell a floundering ecnl league that is now needing to continue to add bad clubs along with the teams from Fc and thusc that aren't even good enough to score 5 goals all season. Talk about a let down when you are playing a team that thinks they are flying to play a good Oregon team.

Correct. The USDA teams will be affiliated with professional clubs to attach to their infrastructure: marketing and financial backing.

Are you sure MLS teams have already been invited? Most actual interviews from USSF seem to imply they expect teams affiliated with NWSL to apply. Not sure why a girls DA would automatically want MLS affiliated teams?

US Soccer and all domestic MLS teams have a partnership/mandate regarding youth Academy programs. Makes logical sense that those at the top of the food chain (MLS clubs) would get first right of refusal for the upcoming Girls DA programs.

It would be pretty insulting not to offer each and every MLS team a Girls DA first before they open it up to the rest of the youth clubs in the country. Given that US Soccer makes them field a boys DA team. MLS teams can of course refuse to be part of the Girls DA or like the did in Portland say YES.

They have no relationship with the NWSL infrastructure the moment so it makes sense those programs would need to apply if they weren't tied to an MLS team.

Professional courtesy for the big boys.

MLS clubs have no interest in girls soccer. They are struggling as it is with the required investment in the boys DA which isn't paying off. And there is no market for girls soccer players so why invest?

The bigger letdown is playing teams from Eastside or Westside that are truly horrible and resort to thugball just to keep from losing by 10+ goals.

Another thread was started how Eastside was stomped on in State Cup on the girls side. Not sure if they have have teams anymore. I think they're focusing on boys now.
