Serious question. I have a child that is a bubble ecnl player. In other words good enough for second team in a ecnl club but not quite ecnl. I'm questioning travel and costs for the next 4-5 years if div 1 is likely not going to happen.

And you want to know if the costs are justified for kids who project for D2 and D3 college soccer? Are you brand new to the site? I'll bite - it isn't that black and white. There's plenty of overlap across low level D1 and high level D2 or D3. Plenty of players from top leagues don't play D1 for many reasons. And not all D1 spots are filled by players from top leagues. A player should play at a level that is appropriate, where they'll be challenged and develop as a player. I think OP is contemplating whether or not you even need club to play D2 or D3.
I'd say yes for D2 and high end D3, no for low D3.Comment
