Do you need to play club to make 2'nd or 3'rd Div school

Serious question. I have a child that is a bubble ecnl player. In other words good enough for second team in a ecnl club but not quite ecnl. I'm questioning travel and costs for the next 4-5 years if div 1 is likely not going to happen.

Oh, so you're questioning the costs of the elite soccer route for a player that many (including perhaps you) wouldn't consider elite? And you want to know if the costs are justified for kids who project for D2 and D3 college soccer? Are you brand new to the site? This topic generally is brought up every day here.

I'll bite - it isn't that black and white. There's plenty of overlap across low level D1 and high level D2 or D3. Plenty of players from top leagues don't play D1 for many reasons. And not all D1 spots are filled by players from top leagues. A player should play at a level that is appropriate, where they'll be challenged and develop as a player. If she isn't likely to start on an ECNL team but is an NPL level starter there's your answer.

generally american coaches either high school or college will contribute to player development. its all up to the player themselves and how much they want it

OP, seriously, what type of colleges are you imagining your kid might be considering when the time comes? Makes a big difference.

Is college the only reason to consider when thinking about Club soccer?

I think OP is contemplating whether or not you even need club to play D2 or D3.

I'd say yes for D2 and high end D3, no for low D3.

I know, and if the OP is facing 5 years of club fees, they have a 12 year old. Who makes soccer deconstruction for a 12 year old based on what college division they might play?

(In my opinion, only an idiot, or our resident troll).

Agreed. Not to mention it depends on the HS team. Besides the no-cut seniors, all of the players on my kid's HS team (EMass D1) play club.

This site is shot. Op asked a legit question IMO and it took less then 10 responses to name calling.

Hard to remember that some of these threads are actually legitimate.

                              1) Plenty of threads are legit but it's impossible to know on an anonymous forum
                              2) Plenty of threads start as legit and are hijacked by the resident loons
                              3) Plenty of threads are troll bait for or created by the resident loons
                              4) This topic is a favorite of some of the resident loons so everyone will assume there is an agenda
