Why very Blacks/Hispanics in womens soccer?

Crystal Dunn, a black player, came off the bench and scored the only goal yesterday vs England to give the US a 1-0 victory...

Just asking , so don't attack me....Unlike the USMNT, the USWNT has little diversity on its roster....Brianna Scurry was the keeper back in 1999 and I think since then there has been little progress in including more Black/Hispanic players on the USWNT....at last years World Cup, I watched France and 1/2 their team was diverse....so why does the most diverse nation in the world have 95% of it's WNT roster as Caucasians?

Your observations about the team are interesting (and obvious), but you have only diagnosed a symptom of what is wrong with youth soccer in the United States, not any disease itself.
In short, Sunil Gulati and the US Soccer Federation academies AND NCAA squads rely too heavily on private, mainly suburban "select" teams. This is true for men's/ women's/ U-21 teams.

Thus, people of color are de facto excluded from consideration for NCAA and national teams as they do not make up a substantial portion of the suburban select teams. The lack of diversity is a symptom of USSF's focus on wealthy suburban teams.

With few programs in areas populated by people of color - rural or urban (futsal, for example) - the team will be tend to be non-diverse. USSF is at fault for not supporting such programs, and civic leaders are at fault - unintentionally, I hope - for not developing them. But, it's the job of Sunil Gulati and USSF to create such programs.

Because without DA for girl US soccer used ECNL as a staple for girls soccer and ECNL is a pay for play system. Meaning it's usually priced out of the Hispanic and Black demographic. Look at the prices to play for ECNL teams

              You are correct.

Here in the US soccer is expensive because parents have allowed it to become expensive because we are gullible. We have collectively drank the Koolaid of the "D1 fullride" offered by latter day snakeoil salesman and self-interested "experts" who take advantage of our relative ignorance of the game.

All you have to do to succeed in the youth soccer business is attach the words "elite", "premiere", "national", "select", "exclusive", "development" or the phrase "college ID" to any team, camp, league or meeting. Then sit back and watch the $ roll in.

Of course, you can charge even MORE if you have a couple guys with English accents who can juggle a few times and have long hair. This will open wallets and checkbooks with never-before-seen speed.

Youth soccer in the USA has never been about the best players - it has always been about the best players with money. This is a major contributing factor to why the USA lags behind in international soccer.

The parents who are paying $1500-$2000 per year for their kid to play a sport they don't prosper in are being sold a bill of goods and should blame themselves also.

Was at an ODP try-out for 2001 Girls a few weekends ago. About 75 girls trying out and of that 75, 3 were ethnic minorities. ODP only costs $150 for the 3 weekends of tryouts so I am not sure it is only the cost. It is a much broader problem.

While you ask an intelligent question, I think it is based on a false assumption. What makes you think we are "the most diverse nation in the world?" Have you ever heard of Brazil?

This is just another example of American Exceptionalism that has no basis in fact. Sounds like the entire Conservative Movement.
