My daughter is a top player at a mid-tier club and has not gotten any feedback from college coaches as yet. She has friends that are on A teams at more prominent clubs, that tend to go to more prestigious showcases that have gotten feedback from college coaches. Should I be concerned that she has not heard back from coaches she's written to? How important is it to get to better showcases, like Disney?

Assuming her target list is realistic have her keep checking in with coaches from time to time, especially if she has games coming up near the schools or will be in any tournaments - have her send them games schedules. If she still gets nothing then move on. All the talk about early recruiting for girls is focused on a subset of players. recruiting will still go one well into junior year for girls, despite all the hype.
Has she been to any showcases yet? Hard to get feedback if coaches haven't seen her play. If her team isn't going much in terms of showcases seek out opportunities to guest play. Has she sent a video? Again, no video = no feedback. Finally, coaches are swamped with emails from 100s of players. Sometimes catching their attention is a numbers game combined with a little luck. Keep plugging away

What position does she play? If she's a keeper you're way late.
Where does your daughter want to play? Top25 you should already be having communication with the coaches.
When you say the ones she has written? Have they responded?
What events have you gone to that coaches might have been at?

Have her the ID clinics, plus any summer camps and you can speak directly with the coaches there.

Make sure you contact schools and fill out their online forms.
Do ID 1 or 2 day id clinics.
Play for an ECNL program if they have one within an hour or so from you. But make sure the ECNL are doing some of the work for you. They should be reaching out to college programs for you.
Keep the grades up!

Also the OP didn't say D1 was her target, and even within D1 there's the top and the bottom and plenty in between. You don't have to be on an ECNL to make it happen.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostSure but it isn't for everyone for many reasons, and you're assuming the player could make an ECNL team or wants to. At earliest she couldn't even get on one until next fall. Better bet for the time being is to keep working the emails, contacting coaches, sending videos and game schedules, attending ID and camps

It's just going to happen a bit later for her is all. Also, her aim may be too high given the level she is at. Review her target list and talk with people in the know - her current coach, HS coach, etc. Is it a realistic list of schools given her skill level?
