If the ECNL parents (and even a few of the kids) I know were not so off -smug and arrogant about a kid's soccer league, I would not feel so amused by this article.

Are we going to rehash this discussion every time someone puts out a press release? The best players will naturally migrate to the most competitive league. If that's DA then all the ECNL girls will end up there, and the State Cup girls will move up to ECNL. Funny thing is, at least in the case of WFF/TBU, OCYS, and JFC, those girls will be staying at the same club, playing with the same teams, just in a different league. Call it whatever you like, the landscape will not change.

If you think all the State Cup players will be playing DA and the ECNL players will stay where they are you are seriously deluded.
Within reason, an appealing feature of soccer is that who is who in the pecking order becomes clear out on the field and has little to do with what name is on the uniform or how much is in the bank account.

I am under the impression that there will not be as many girls DA programs as there are current ECNL programs. So the top ECNL clubs, especialy those with a boys DA, will get a girls DA. Many ECNL teams will not be designated a DA club and will continue to play in what will soon be, the second tier league.

It will be interesting to see how many girls will jump to DA if they have the chance, knowing they will not be allowed to play HS. My guess is that many will stay at the ECNL level and play HS soccer.

If DA level is not ultimately higher than ECNL level what a disappointment it will be.
