2015 Boys HS Soccer State Championships

First let's look at the D1 Draw:

    A lot of newbies here

WMass Usually Ludlow, Amherst, or 'Chaug show up to win it all. Longmeadow is this year's entrant. Famous for other sports such as Football and Hockey, soccer seems a new gig for them.

CMass Down in recent years, GD steps up for this sectional. Well known here at the D2 level, this is their first go at D1.

SMass Usually the province of Needham, this year Brockton, a famous sports school like Longmeadow, steps up.

NMass Framingham, SJP, Lexington are often here. LS is usually one of the best around, but generally falls before this point. This year they are here, and IMO are perhaps the favorite.

    D2 Draw:

    Similarly there are newbies.

SMass Oliver Ames are the tournament's Rodney Dangerfields (I don't get no respect!), but they just keep winning.

NMass CC owns this sectional, in fact they own D2. Except for last night. Masco is the representative.

      D3

      Some familiar faces here'

WMass Frontier is here a lot. GL to them.

CMass Similarly, Douglas has a good history here and some notable college players in their past. GL to them.

SMass Norton is the entrant here.

      NMass Swampscott represents this sectional.

        D4

I was waiting for Sutton and Cohassett to play, but then this happened.

WMass Monson is a regular here.

CMass Sutton bows to Bromfield, who actually owns a ton of D3 hardware, but moved here in the recent realignment. Welcome back.

SMass Archbishop Williams has been around.

NMass St Mary's seems like a new player here.

MASCO won the state title in 2013. Not sure we are newbies. We won 4-0 over the great Baystate rep Walpole.

C'mon Alex, who are your picks. You'll be getting in your car to go to Brockton in a few hours to see the game of the year. Pick now, please.

Bromfield's a good team who got some help from the refs. 0-0 with 9 minutes to play in regulation, their player is dribbling on the edge of the box to the far right of the goal 18 yards out and shoulder to shoulder with our defender who tackles the ball. The ref blows the whistle and says our defender clipped him. Grants a PK and that's the ballgame. Sutton gave a up a second goal in the final minute while pushing far forward to try to equalize. Always a shame when the referees make themselves more important than the players on the field and decide a game.

Well done MIAA, your referees are fabulous.

That may not have been even the worst call/non-call against Sutton all season. After all, there was the PK called against us at Groton-Dunstable. Sutton wins the ball and plays it downfield. Their striker is 10 yards behind our last defender walking back to midfield. G-D wins the ball and plays it long over our defensive lines' heads to the striker who is still offsides. He turns and carries into the box forcing our GK to come out stop the one-on-one strike. The GK takes him out and the ref blows the whistle granting a PK. When we pointed out that he was offsides - by a lot lol - the ref said we'd kept him on. When we asked who kept him on, he pointed at our GK.

Just more idiocy and ridiculous doings courtesy of the MIAA and its incompetent refs~

For the record, if they've figured out how to finish, my prediction is Monson to win it all. They were strong last year and took us to the wire. They did lose a good player, but the strength of that team was in the current senior class as I recall.

Actually, I think it's their current junior class that is the strength of the team. And that doesn't include their classmate who is a national team GK for the Revs!

You used "we" an awful lot. What position do you play?

Come off the Island of Bitterness. Poor calls are part of the game. Good teams can overcome them

IME, dozens of highly competent officials can be found on the spectators' sideline of any Sutton match.

Yeah - unfortunately too few can be found on the field.

I recognize it's part of the game, but that's no reason not to call a spade a spade. Lots of poor officiating out there, but just because it's commonplace doesn't make it acceptable. If you're going to take a paycheck, at least have some pride and understand both the rules and how to apply them in the post-season. And spare me the stupid cliches and platitudes - "good teams can overcome them."

L/S wins each of last 2 games in div. 1 by at least 2. Very underestimated, very good and very, very big.

...I can't figure out how to post a new thread here. Can someone please post about the US Mens National team as I watch their utter mediocrity against Trinidad and Tobago. Gawd is Klinnsman useless!

yes... I won't be taking Bill Gates job anytime soon.
