Who is the crazy one and who is naive?

I have a younger son who used to be part of the U13. He is an average to good player. We left the Valeo as he/we were not in love with the idea of the excess travel for league games and tournaments. The obsession with GS, ranking, and the talk about national teams and recognition seemed premature and intense among both the directors and some parents. Now he plays on a fair to decent team (probably not as good as the Valeo team) against very good competition. Of course we did not completely eliminate the league travel but don't have to go to the 'middle of no-where' New Jersey.

That said......is it crazy to be so competitive and intense at this young age I.e. Am I the naive one??

It's not just Valeo. The top teams at NEFC and GPS have some real sicko parents as well.

Some of what you see represents the difference between boys and girls soccer. The differing starts of puberty and the age at which college recruiting starts impacts things greatly. Even with those differences, no one (college coaches, club coaches, parents or players) is waiting until the junior year in high school to get started anymore so if you find it that distasteful it is time you pull your kids out of sports altogether because what you see is everywhere.

Believe me when I tell you this thread has ZERO to do with Valeo.

Are you saying that it has nothing at all to do with Valeo or that it is not specific for only Valeo? The latter is believeable, but to say that it has nothing at all to do with Valeo......well, I guess you are the naive one.

Fun fact: ALL of club soccer is loaded with crazy AND naive.

It means you started a fictional thread.

And do explain why he/she is 'right on cue' and a 'sick dude'. Is your response meant to show some insight or just a knee jerk response......or can we get rid of the 'knee'?
Really, I would like to hear the intelligence and rational behind your informative post. Is there something about Monday at 7:00 that makes it wrong to post questions? I know that the world functions 24/7/365, but maybe, for you, Mondays at 07:00 is a particularly bad time.

Not at all fictional. All fact including my sons relative average (to Valeo elite) ability. It just seems like there has been a shift in parental intensity and anxiety ever since the Valeo team merged and elevated their status.

Thanks, BTNT. And yes, Monday at 7:00 is significant. One of the primary times when BTNT starts his new threads for the week where he within a few posts will be hammering his usual targets and themes. Beyond disgusting.

Because nobody has left Valeo u13.

                            I empathize fully.
                            Central Mass location.
Left house at 9:30, match at 11:30, 60 min match, home at 2:30.
                            Maple league game.
Billions of kids in Mass play soccer. Can we not get matches a little closer to home.
                            This is ridiculous.
                            Lost, btw...

BTDT, are you still in the data collection phase of your research, or have you progressed to data analysis? When can we expect a publication?
