Play the game at competitive level is not running the score. For me this running the score sh!t is losers' creation and excuse. Clubs aside, these different leagues system is not helpful for US soccer. If they are trying to follow Europe in birth year cr@p they need also to copy their unification of the leagues and divisionalize soccer correctly. Otherwise we will these scenarios repeating over and over again.Comment

A real coach would tell the kids to possess. Period. The parents on that team should be completely embarrassed. How's that "NPL is equal to ECNL" competition working out for you? The more youth soccer I see, the less I can tell about "class" and running up the score. What I mean is that you can have a 10-1 game, where the winning team kept playing, never went into "keep-away", the losing team got some chances, and in the moment to moment of the game there was some decent soccer. You can also have a 4-0 game where the winning team got the lead, parked the bus, played possession, cleared every deep ball out of bounds and both teams really stopped playing soccer. The distinction is more subtle than "stop scoring". Some of the most humiliating, hard-to-watch soccer I've seen has been when superior teams ping the ball around against a losing team that has given up the fight. From the losing perspective, I think it is harder to chase around a "keep away" ball than it is to treat every possession as a new clean slate. Is there a line somewhere--9-0? 12-0? I'm really not sure there is. (PS: My kids' teams have been on the losing end of blowouts FAR more often than the winning end, though I've been on both sides.)Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

If their kids get beat by 17 goals you all should be asking your club what the hell they are doing instead of blaming the competition for beating them that badly. Shame on all of you.
