Parent coaches at the club level

What are the thoughts here of parent coaches at club level (one of the mega clubs) where parents are shelling out thousands...

    Total conflict of interest.

Not a fan of parent coaches at club or travel soccer levels. Rec is fine.

Wrong. I'd say unavoidable. A sweeping generalization that all parent coaches favor their own kid is just that - a sweeping generalization. Some coaches handle it professionally, others do not. If you are a confrontational and envious d-bag you should steer clear of the club. If you are an intelligent adult who observes situations rationally, with clarity and dignity then see how things play out.

Well since you've stated it'd one of the mega clubs, you've narrowed it down to 2-3 people, and given it's the fall season, and you've decided to post that narrows it further.

          What's your beef?

Im not the OP but I think I know what club they are talking about. FC Bolts South.

You have the one new FC Bolts coach (former DOC of Inspire SFC) and the rest are Dads.

Its the old Inspire SFC Club with the same band of misfits.

              Completely unfair and ignorant statement.
There are many "parents" who have played the game through the college level and have also pursued further coaching education.
I am a coach with an advanced national license who also happens to be a dad. The club bosses pay some attention where conflicts might arise
This is not the early years where moms and dads were generally volunteers and knew little of the game.
These parents who are now coaches probably have less issue with unfairness than the young hired guns who are solely focused on building their resume

I have no problem with parents coaching in club soccer as long as they do not coach their own kids and they are quilified to coach.

But no problem with teachers teaching their own kids in school? Happens all the time.

I have been around youth soccer for a number of years and I can count with two fingers when parent coaches works well when their own kids are on the team they are coaching.

Same here. If they're qualified and meet club standards that's fine. They just shouldn't coach their own kids
Even when a parent can effectively coach their kid (which is very rare) it brings up far too many questions and constant scrutiny.

I like post that references sweeping generalizations. I happen to know a few white guys that truly can't jump, and I know a few black guys that are really good dancers. These data points prove nothing. I know many that break the stereotype. That dude who can't dance is truly cursed, tho.

My bet is you are unsatisfied with something in your current situation. It's early in the season, give it time and then address it as you would any issue - don't let the Parent/Coach thing become your excuse. If it is a "mega club" then they are aware of it, and I bet that coach has some legit credentials.

Now I see it. I agree with you or I am an envious, confrontational, unintelligent, irrational, d-bag who lacks clarity and dignity.

I've always avoided daddy coaches at clubs. Now I will have to rethink my logic to avoid being everything you listed.

                              A little defensive aren't you.
