Ok so are the rumors true or not? There is another thread on here stating that the Team Boca DOC is leaving them and joining the Strikers and that the team is moving into FAU stadium. I do know that Lockhart land was just leased out to be a giant water park so it makes sense the Strikers are looking for a new home. But Boca?

This would be awesome for Boca (city I mean) but not good for TB. The last thing they need is to now lose their college recruitment program. But I do know a couple things for a fact that aren't rumors. BD has basically been AWOL from TB summer practices and wasn't at WPSL Blast games. He also definitely had lunch with Ronaldo at Max's Grill in Boca because I heard that from a few people. I also heard that the Lockhart Stadium is being turned into a water park so I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is all true. I think it would be a brilliant move by the Strikers to get a local club like TB behind them that has a solid business and community structure, unlike West Pines where they tried it before. Hopefully this isn't just a BS rumor. It would be great for the S Fl soccer community and especially Palm Beach County! -

Re 2- sounds illogical to me. Everything in the Sun-Sentinel re the Schlitterbahn (sic?) seems to indicate that Lockhart Stadium will be included in the development. The owner said in the S-S this week that there may even be slides going thru part of the Stadium. The City of Ft Laud will be making the down payment on the land around the 1st of August. Development plans will proceed from there.
Second reason for skepticism is why would the Strikers want to play in a football stadium that is too narrow for soccer? Everything I have read and heard directly from the Strikers owners is that they want a soccer-specific stadium and that they are happy with the location of Lockhart.Comment

I think this could all be very true. Supposedly the Strikers and the new developer couldn't reach a deal. Although the water park may keep the stadium I heard it's not going to be with the Strikers. I also know for a fact that Bill Daddio met with Strikers ownership a few years ago about joining them but it was definitely the old ownership group and not the new ones and they couldn't reach a deal. That's a fact. I know the Strikers have always been interested in the higher end Boca market. It would be a great move for them. BD has been very successful in everything he's done and I think he would bring a lot to the Strikers especially if Team Boca is involved in some youth development way.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

FAU stadium has hosted two national team games and the women's NCAA Final Four and the field size was fine. Getting BD and working with Boca as a youth club would be brilliant! Everything I've heard makes perfect sense and would be a great move by the Strikers. The hardest part for me to believe though is that BD would actually do it. I know that he loves running TB and mainly working with the Boca girls doing their college recruitment but he's been trying to do less, not more, so taking on a huge role like this with the Strikers doesn't fit. You're right of course about the field size. However, "fine" is not "optimal." The pitch at Lockhart is ideal - maximum width + room. While FAU field width does meet standards it is so close to the walls that you lose sight lines. I was in a corner for the Honduras game last year and could not see the closest lines. It's even worse if you are up 20 rows or so midfield. You can't see directly below you. I have a son at TB and I spoke to one of the Boys coaches last night and he said that he heard this same rumor that BD bought into the Strikers and was leaving TB but none of the TB coaches have been told anything officially and they haven't seen or heard from him in a while. Kinda strange since he's always at the field usually with the TB girls side. Ok so obviously if Ronaldo is looking for a house in La Lac the team can't be staying in Ft Lauderdale because that would make no sense. I know La Lac is big time prestigious but there are similar communities in Broward so he wouldn't be living in Boca and driving to Lauderdale. I also heard the Boca DOC was seen meeting with him at a local Boca restaurant so there's obviously some truth to at least discussion going on between, BD, Ronaldo, Strikers? Team Boca? This is very surprising to me because I know Bill and he has been trying to do less and spend more time at his house in the Keys. I don't see him working more which would be the case if he's going to the Strikers. That sounds like a big undertaking to me. But he helped my daughter tremendously with her recruitment and she played college soccer at a great school and had a great college experience and we owe a lot to his help. So BD if this is true then congratulations and we wish you all the best in your new venture!Comment

It's official Bill D'addio is leaving to go to the Strikers. Great for the Strikers, terrible for TB. Maybe the competition from BU in the much more competitive league also chased him away. Whatever it was, huge loss for the kids who want to play in college.Comment
