For Oregon players competing in Surf Cup, have a great experience and I hope you show well. For parents and families of players, enjoy the "Best of the Best" and beautiful San Diego. Your child and his or her team worked hard to earn the opportunity to play in this excellent Showcase tournament.

Will they all get stomped again? Maybe some of the boys teams will do well at least. Is the Cfc's girls team that did well in Regionals going? Good luck to teams that go. Would be nice to have a good showing from Oregon for a change.

Anybody playing in Gold level is just playing in another tourney that happens to be at the same time/place as the real Surf Cup. A good tourney, better than anything in Oregon, but not Surf Cup level for sure.

[QUOTE=Unregistered;1600409]Good think for CU 98s that Surf accepted them back before they showed how mediocre they are. Surf must have overlooked the results of their last 15 or so games. There is nothing "super" in those results. Super bad maybe.[/QUOTE
Your daughter never got to play at Surf? So sad it is a great one!

Yes, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of California players that are better than our Oregon kids playing at Surf. Yes, the tournament may be watered down compared to years past. Yes, there may be players and teams that might be playing above their true level. Yes, there are two divisions and most Oregon teams are in the weaker. But, if you are an Oregon kid, growing up and playing soccer in Oregon, and you get a chance to travel to San Diego and participate in the Surf Cup, that's a wonderful experience. Not because you expect to be 'seen' and recruited by swarms of D1 coaches. Not because you think you are some hot shot. But rather because you are a humble, decent Oregon kid from a small town in the un-populated Pacific Northwest who gets to have a really neat experience.
