It has been suggested that until US Soccer finally breaks down and creates a girls DAP, the landscape for elite girls soccer in this country will remain fractured and diluted by too many leagues and organizations all looking to create the appearance of an "elite" environment while making a buck.
It has also been hinted at that a girls DAP is in fact coming and that it may not be long until one emerges. The question is, is this a believable scenario, given how much has been invested in building the current the girls landscape? Lots of entrenched interests to serve; ECNL, NPL, id2, etc. on the US Club side of things, not to mention the heirarchy on the USYS side of things; national league, regional leagues, state associations, and ODP.
What are the chances that a DAP equivalent will in fact emerge for the girls? And what are opinions of (1.) whether it is needed and (2.) the likely value of a DAP equivalent in producing an enduring, top shelf WNT program?
