    ID2 and ODP

Can anyone tell me their thoughts on either? We were in the ODP program for a bit, but now play for a US Club Soccer affiliated team. This question is purely educational.

Just my opinion on ODP. From what I understand, it was a really good program years ago. My opinion is only based on a few example of ODP players that have been on my kids teams. In all three cases the ODP players were sub par performers and where second string at best. So, this tells me that ODP has become more of a business and is bringing in kids that probably aren't good enough for what the program was originally intended to be.

I prefer ID2 ODP has almost become pay to play - top players are no longer involved and they'll practically take anyone who comes to tryouts. If you're good enough to make the regional level then it's worthwhile, but many will not reach that level. ID2 is coach based.

              1. ODP with all its warts is the only "open" program and the only way to get id'ed that doesn't require your club and/or coach to endorse the player.
              2. ODP starts several years before IDP does and if a player makes the regional pool early on they will more than likely also invited to IDP.
              3. The exposure ODP inter regional event is a highly scouted "exposure event" which IDP doesn't have anything like.
              4. There are quotas and politics in both programs but in ODP the quotas tend to limit inclusion on things like the regional pool based upon the state a player is coming from whereas in IDP the quotas are applied against clubs and tend to limit the number of players a club can promote into the program.

                    1) you must have never seen the Mewis sisters play.
                    2) you must have never seen HB play. As a striker, there is NO comparison.
                    3) you must have never seen MA play
                    4) nice job setting the poor girl up to get ripped on TS for the next 3 days or so.

way more fun to get them to jump at a different lure and then drop a big steamy one on their snouts.

Let's clarify, you don't 'play' ID2. Your kid get's asked to go to a traiing session once or twice over a several yeaer period.

You pay and play ODP, two completly different things.
