I would not look here! Call both teams DOC'S and ask to talk to parents of that age group, better yet ask around and find parents, and run away from here quickly!

Well calling the DOCs is pretty useless as well. Don't count on them for unbiased information.

I would talk to both DOC's, they asked about culture, and also talk to parents. Going with your gut after that, honestly, we have been at one of the now ECNL clubs for 4 years now and our daughter is very happy with her choice, and with ECNL this year. If you go by what is said on here, both clubs and everyone associated is the devil, not true. I would talk to both clubs, get a hold of some of the parents, and then do what YOU think is best for your daughter.

What about on the boy's side?

In the US, soccer is a girl's sport. Boy's play other sports.

If you don't plan on going this year why are you posting? Agree, this is not the best place for advice. Talk to the coaches and parents at club and watch several games.

You are right, this is a lousy place to come for information. Therefore, everyone should disregard everything that you said.

Both clubs have no structure or development plan (The same can be said for all the clubs in OR)

What is your soccer clubs plan? They will all tell you that they have one and the websites will say we want to teach the players integrity and develop their soccer skills. What a load of garbage!

As a parent what do you really want for your child?
Here are the problems with the clubs in this area:
1. DOC's that are motivated by having as many players in the club as possible so that you can keep paying them their salaries. How can you develop an age group when you have 5 teams in that age group? Development is thrown through the window unless you have a plan and all coaches are following that plan. Which the clubs don't have.
2. No qualified DOC's that monitor their coaching staff. They just want a body in place to look after the group.
3. No blueprint on player development.
4. What % of coaches do you think coach for the money? 70%? 85%? 90%?
5. Board members that have no idea what it takes to employ a respected DOC. Board members are incapable of understanding the growth of a soccer club.
6. All clubs have a short term plan mentality.
7. They take the money and laugh at you. Why do you think parents have to sign an agreement that all fees for the year should be paid if you leave the club. If you believe in what you are doing, this rule should not be in place.
8. Do all teams get a premier service? They should because we all pay the same amount of money.

Mostly spot on but if your kids want to play competitive soccer you have no real choice. the DOC's know this and can do whatever they want. The boards are only in it for their own kids & don't question the Docs, who in turn, don't question the coaches. Welcome to club sports. I've heard good things about Bend but the drive isn't doable.

You are mistaken. Girls do ballet and look pretty. And the others play soccer. Thank God for Title 9.

Again, someone who really knows nothing about the actual goals or structure of the clubs but believes what he or she reads on here, worthless...oh but wait, they will come back and, "I have been around youth soccer for x amount of years, I know!" You are probably the same Dad who thinks he could coach his daughters team better than her coach because he coached his daughters team to many tournament wins at u8!!!
