At least they only paid $3,600 to play in local leagues.

And Crossfire United lost 10-0 and 4-0 in one weekend. I doubt they really are that bad. Over time, these things happen. And lest you think it's that crazy for the Thorns team to lose, the team they lost to will have 9-12 players playing college in the next couple years. No, they are not a great team, but they have some high quality players. Unfortunately, it's rather impractical for the players from outside the PDX area to play on the Thorns Academy team. It's equally impractical for Oregon to have two high quality ECNL teams. It ain't gonna happen any time soon.

It was a brilliant bait and switch. The Timbers create the Thorns academy. Charge kids 200% more than normal club fees. Promise them they will play in Surf Cup and a special league that doesn't exist. Neither happened of course. They stick them into FRWL and local leagues that many clubs already do. All for triple the price of club soccer.... yea the Timbers are in it for the kids......... riiiiiight!

Come on people! The Timbers and TA only care about girls so long as they help subsidize the boys!!

Come on people, Tom only cares about his wallet and ego. Yeah Tom and Fraser are in it for the kids. Biggest crooks in Oregon soccer.

They should have one ecnl team and play PCU's B team for a league. I bet they could beat Bend as well.... oh the fun!

Losing to crossfire premier is cheaper then losing to bend.

                  I guess it's not. They're both 3 hour drives.

Careful here...this can apply just as well to ECNL...

Not really. No one promised Surf Cup and nothing was said about playing FWRL. Definitely nothing was said about playing in the silver bracket at Vegas.

No, they only said that ECNL would be playing top competition, that there would be tons of games, .... no one said there would be a lack of referees, that games might be cancelled, AFTER dropping $2,500, and it would be a steady diet of last place teams. Thankfully, it was promised that there would be 5-0 beat downs when playing good teams, and that has come to pass.

I don't get what you are saying. So they should only play easy teams, beat up on OYSA teams that have now lost their better players to do a lopsided scrimmages? Is that the gist of your problem with ecnl? They also need to control the weather as well?
Now getting refs..... hello, that was eff'ed up, but it was just local matches that they can redo.

So what is a better option?
