Looking at the weather, seems like it... Nothing major predicted for this week and a couple warm days.

      Really??

Could maybe end up as rain, but I believe that would invoke the 48 hour rule..

Not sure where that map is from, but most forecasts aren't showing much. Accuweather's own forecast is only showing about 1" on Thursday: http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/lan.../2251064?day=4

Yeah, I am seeing less than an inch of accumulation on Thursday morning. If that's the case I wouldn't think that would cancel this event...

Lancaster, Acton and Forekicks will be fine but they have a lot of other fields that are in question. Ashland MS and HS, BB&D, Brown University, Cohasset, Edge, Gordon College, Marshall St, Nashoba HS, Woborn HS, Worcester Acad and I think a few more.

Acton HS was a sheet of ice around the perimeter of the field over this past weekend. Scorps set up 2 makeshift 8v8 fields in the middle of each 11v11 field using cones. And even then, field 2 was a little short as there was ice lining the field up to a little past the sideline. Acton HS needs a lot more work to get it operational on 2 full 11v11 fields or the full 4 8v8 fields. Not sure if the sun is going to do the trick. Scorps did a good job at least running the 2 8v8 fields there though.

Tough to say - Lancaster & Stars Complex games were cancelled b/c those fields were a complete sheet of ice. Acton HS did even have minor ice patches on Sunday even in the area games were being played on. Looks like the sun will help but not sure if its going to be enough.

How much snow would have to fall Thursday before the fields are unplayable for the weekend?

Question is if it rains, then snows(3 inches), will fields be frozen when games start Sat morning?

Anyone from GPS know if they are getting the fields ready for this weekend?

Our team received the following yesterday:

                              Coaches and Managers,

It seems mother nature is going to test our capacity to host this event right down to the wire. If you are unaware of the reports, MA may get a few inches of snow tonight, followed by a warm, but rainy Wednesday and then potential of icy rain and some accumulation on Thursday.

As you can imagine we are playing the guessing games and everyone would rather know the status now - one way or the other. However, we are going to have to make final decisions a little later than anticipated.

All our staff are checking the fields tomorrow and then again on Friday morning.

Any fields deemed unplayable tomorrow will be 100% cancelled as the Thursday/Friday weather and temps do not show that they will help melt a layer of ice or an inch of snow at this point.

However, the grey areas will be those fields that are clear and good to go wednesday - but then may get hit hard Thursday night with freezing rain/ice or snow.

As always, we want to be as informative as possible and wanted to keep you all posted. Any fields cancellations tomorrow will take place around 1pm after field inspections and then we hope for some good luck Thursday night.

We all wish we could give you more definitive news - but we will keep you posted as much as we can throughout the week.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

                              GPS Tournament Team
