They then keep your money.
Like only getting half back on your shirt, even though you have the receipt.
Where is Lizzie Warren when you need her
Please play in our tournament, we are going to keep some of your money whether we play or not.
Next year, we will have an additional fee added on in case you do play.
You can fool some of the people all the time

They are keeping 25% of the fee. It is more profitable to cancel tournaments than to have them I am starting to think if you keep 25 cents on the dollar.

I doubt they hope to cancel, however, there should be no profit made if they do. The clubs, which have now put together time and effort....and money.....into their planning should not be penalized when the hosting club decides to cancel the tournament, regardless of who is at fault. In this case, the weather is the fault, however, the attending clubs/teams should not be blamed for it, unless the host club does not care if anyone is interested next year.

I am curious to know what other tournament hosts do. Does the hosting club take out insurance to pay clubs back or do they make the clubs buy insurance for the 'just in case'? I believe that the Needham tournament (1000+ teams) buys its own insurance.
