We All Secretly Hate Football In The USA

Every true football fan in the United States secretly hates everything football has to offer in the United States. We aspire to European standards; that's just the reality of it all.

We don't want to grow our own unique footballing culture, not only because we refuse to, but because we don't want to.

We can't even grow a proper soccer culture here without the aid of European standards. It's the sad truth.

Where other countries like Japan, Spain, Brazil, Dominican Republic, South Korea all have took different approaches to either predominantly American sports like baseball and basketball and in-lined it with their own culture.

Compulsive - obsessive disorder takes many forms. Please get help. There are things in your life better to attend to than trying to troll start another idiotic thread.

If you don't have a certain degree of discontent and dissatisfaction for the footballing culture here in America, you just simply aren't a true football fan. Or just complacent.

Probably just complacent or doesn't know how soccer/football actually works overseas.

"Ooooo GPS and Bolts got a new partnership and cool new jerseys, let's talk about that!"

How great does my son look in those slick new Adidas gear? He's doesn't get that much playing time and isn't that great at soccer but look how amazing he looks sitting on the bench? Well, at least he's enjoying the environment, I guess.

Take me wallet please. This is actually why soccer in America is going nowhere.

The reality that parents in Massachusetts don't want to face. But the reality is there.

No, it's all about the fact that my daughter is a very good athlete who chose to play soccer over anything else because she was very good at it and her team won all the time when she was U-little. Then her club team won all the time, and she continued to grow and develop. Now she'll go to college for practically nothing, which is all that really matters once you hit the HS years. We root for the USNT at World Cup and Olympics. Other than that, we watch American Football. Go ahead, hit me with all your snobbery.

That's great but how many of her peers experience the same thing? Not much money being thrown around for women's football in the US, I'm talking scholarships.

I absolutely love watching soccer. Watch mainly Premier League (on a weekly basis), the Revs, and the USNT's on occasion.

I also love watching my kids play, but for the two are not related at all for me, and I could care less if my kids youth/HS soccer experience is or is not is indicative of the overall U.S. National soccer development program. Not something I care about nor will waste my time thinking about. Sorry. I am a fan, but not invested in the development of the US program on a national/global level.

I will say the same for American Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey.

I am a huge soccer fan and love watching it at all levels. I watch the Premier League weekly and the Revs and USNT's on occasion. As a mom, I especially love watching my kids play. I am indeed a true fan of the game. But frankly I could care less and am not invested at all in the direction the development at the national/professional level for the US soccer program. This is no different than me being a huge fan of the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. I love all of these sports and love rooting my teams on, but I pay no mind to the behind the scenes developmental debates for the professional level of these sports. My kids will not play professionally so it just doesn't interest or concern me much, but that does not make me any less a fan.

Does the same hold for England? We look too much like English football. And we get the same results internationally. Gee, I wonder why.

We strive for mediocrity when it comes to football in this country. We'll need another few decades before we can even think about actually competing for a World Cup. Even Jürgen acknowledged that.
