All OYSA Clubs to go Calendar Year

Will this be the same for all clubs?

I hear that people waaaaaaaay above our paygrade have asked our entire US Soccer Federation to get with the rest of the planet and go calendar year by 2016.

I'm hearing that all OYSA teams are making that move this coming tryouts.

    Anyone hear the same?

Maybe boys teams. PSPL is going to calendar year for all boys ages starting this spring. RCL is not.

no real impact. some players will shift up or down a team, but it should be net-net

rcl will be making the change after Feb HS tryouts and may tryouts.

RCL and OYSA will be calendar year starting 2015.

spring 2015 is technically 2014 season.

you are correct...it would be stupid for anyone to make a change like this in the middle of the season....the entire state of Washington is making the change at tryouts this year.

Crossfire made the change last year.

You mean all 1999s will only be 1/1/1999 to - 12/31/99 birthdays?

That will break up teams that have been together for a long time.

You will probably see alot of people changing clubs with this happening, they should do the same for highschool.

My daughter's team has 8 girls that have played together for 9 years. Half are one birth year half the older year. Her favorite part of soccer is her friends. And before you say that's lame, she is very good player.

She loves soccer but her friends are a bigger part of why she practices three days a week and goes to camps and travel tournaments and sacrifices her weekends and skips school functions. What a bad deal to force teams to break up.

So no change for RCL until 2016

I don't think it needs to happen personally. Why change mid stream. Start with younger ages and don't mess with older ages.

Easier to just knock it out all at one time. Administrative nightmare. One age will overlap. would be a pain.
