I actually believe the USA is decent and could compete, if they actually ever learn how to pass the ball.

Apparently the intent of the OP was to just bash the USA. otherwise, we might be expected to actually learn something about what they are saying... like, is this a particular age group, national teams? in OP there is no indication whether it is mens, women, though later posts indicate their thoughts. To all you thread starters: put some thought in your post. Don't just string 5 words together and expect everyone to follow. Add a link, something to support your thread. Otherwise, no one should follow along as everyone begins to just guess as to the intent of the original idea, which are often lacking information.

playing with 3 in the back for the first time, still experimenting with Jermaine as a CB (which isn't going well), starting Birnbaum-Shea-Wood and using our 3rd (4th maybe) best option at goalie isn't really deserving of being called our A team. That said, the team hasn't shown any real growth in possession or ability. Gold Cup this summer and then WC qualifying in the fall followed by Copa America Centenario next summer should tell us pretty quickly if the team is getting any better.

OP obviously has an agenda. To be clear, neither team was an "A" team, neither was a "B" team. Both teams were missing nearly all Europe-based players. Also, most of the Americans have not played since mid-November.
It was a friendly and both teams were experimenting with formations and players. It is what it is.

How could you not know what the OP was talking about?

What makes this loss tough to swallow is that while the USA had some of their top stars playing, stars like Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez, Gary Medel and Claudio Bravo did not play for Chile and instead the Argentine manager, Jorge Sampaoli, opted exclusively for players who play their trade in the domestic league, yielding a group with very little international experience. Only five of the 20 players have registered more than five caps, and only one (Johnny Herrera) was part of the World Cup squad. How many players from the World Cup squad did the US have playing? something like 8....Bottom line is the USA has won 1 of their past 9 games since beating Ghana at the World Cup.....If this was the record of England, that coach would be gone so quick..

Anyone who doesn't think that US Soccer needs to be completely overhauled is an idiot. Jurgen is going to ruffle all the feathers, piss off all the old school and so he should. In order to awaken this country from its soccer slumber, things need to be done differently. I applaud his attitude to experiment in these meaningless games.
BTW, how many players from FLORIDA are in the mens national pool U18 and up? Answer: 1
FLORIDA needs a wake up call too.

No excuses. Fact is we suck at player development. We lose to Chile. Chile is the size of what Texas? We need a real overhaul of our entire youth system. Jurgen knows this.
The professional academies will be the way to go (MLS Academies). Any other way is a waste of time if you want to be a pro.
