    Timbers Patch = ECNL

It's only at patch (Timbers) it's only a league (ECNL).

Since THUSC, FC Portland and LOSC (Crossfire) didn't get a (Timbers) patch they paid for an expensive designer label band aid (ECNL).

Fact is the the patch and the band aid can't cover up the mediocrity that is spread out across the landscape of Oregon Girls club soccer.

Absolutely! People, we look to our leaders to solve problems, to make things better. Is anyone trying to solve the state of girl's soccer in Oregon? All of our "leaders" have decided it is easier to launch and maintain a flame war between organizations then to actually engage the issues.

Demand more. Whether you are paying $800 or $2,000, we should all have higher expectations.

ECNL clubs are delivering the "more" already. Sorry to hear that your TA club isn't, and never will be able to.

Sorry to hear that ECNL has been such a huge disappointment. Just keep your chin up and keep push forward.

The cost has been a huge burden. But we are going to continue for now.

Yeah, that extra $500 for training fees almost broke the bank. But it has been a much better investment than putting $3600 into the Thorns Academy.

it actually doesn't seem like any of the "leaders" are flaming anyone. sounds like it's the followers making all the noise. start a coalition of parents. we all know there is only enough talent here for ONE truly top team. at least get a petition going saying that all of the parents of the three teams demand consolidation, or something.

otherwise, i'm sure it's RULL effective to just spit back and forth at each other on this website. (btw this is not a "blog" for those of you who aren't sure how the web works.)

*yes, i put rull on purpose, 'cause i'm your snotty college aged kid. eat it.

You know, this is how our soccer leaders get away with the dilution of talent intended to make them money. Getting people to buy into a concept so blindly that they don't even ask the question "could it be better?" ECNL is good but it is NOT the end all in Oregon. These teams are 50% staffed by players who wouldn't even make a Crossfire team much less the travel team. Two ECNL clubs was one too many. It is a money grab plain and simple. The money grab goes on both sides as the Timbers don't cost as much and provide very little for the female players. The OPL is outrageous and provides more. Neither is a good value for the highest level Oregon female players.

We are talking about girl's soccer. Why are we all comparing dick sizes?

How were they going to consolidate? Medford, Bend and Salem girls come into PDX, Beaverton, or LO to practice 3-4 times a week. PDX girls travel to Salem for practice?? For us it was simple geography. We were glad when OPL was formed so we could play close to home and still have the weekend to do other things. Just one families opinion.

I don't get the 'consolidation" people. You act as if every state has one consolidated team. That is not true. They do not. Every state has the same issue and it's because of geography. In fact having 50 percent of top players on one team is a pretty good percentage. You should get out more, learn something before you go touting un-realistic crap.

it's not about consolidation for consolidation's sake. it's about the fact that are not 18 players at each age group, in the entire state of oregon, that would have a realistic chance of making the national team. so, there's not even enough talent for one team.

Here is the problem, you don't have 50% of the top players on one team. You think you do because your daughter made it but in reality no you do not. You are not the first ECNL players in the state. There were girls from Oregon playing discovery before these clubs were formed. There are still Oregon girls playing on the Seattle based teams because they don't want to settle for the dilution. Talk about un-realistic crap and learning.. you might try it sometime.

Making the national team isn't the benchmark. Making a nationally recognized team should be. Oregon doesn't have the population base to support two high level teams. They can do one as evidenced by the sporadic successful team from Oregon and the successful ODP teams. They all had one thing in common, most of the high level players in the age group gravitated to those teams. For the club teams, they took it a step further with high level guest players. Two teams at each age level that don't include the players who can't afford the astronomical expense is one two many.

easy on the settle train. Last time I checked that ecnl team from up north only tied our diluted ecnl team.
