Is it absolutely necessary, no but it is a nice way to get the spring season started if you can afford it. We see value so were all in!
At this age there is little to no value in spending this much time and money on a weekend tournament. Unless your kids team is so dominant such that there is no competition within a 3-4 hour drive, it is not worthwhile. Even that, for the hotel fees and meals I don't think it is worth tier 2 or lower teams at all.

Breakers and Aztec sending younger teams, GPS at U13, Stars and Aztec U14.

I agree with the sentiment, but laugh at the assumption that, like many other threads, you have assumed that only the girls side is important. Regardless, I think that it is also crazy for the younger BOYS teams to attend any tournament more than a 3-4 hour car ride away....if even that far.

My thought is why aren't these same teams trying to play at Annandale the same weekend instead? Jefferson Cup has had awful weather cancellations over the past several years because they use grass fields. Annandale is 100% on turf.

I've been to Jefferson Cup a few times.
Been canceled twice
Been nice weather once
Been freezing cold a couple of times
Not that much different from around here.
