I'm getting bombarded with ID camps requests !!!

Every day there's at least 3-4 ID camps from all over inviting my son to go. Are there any camps like this that actually look at the boys and show interest in recruiting ?

    Yes and no.

If you have been communicating with a coach and they invite you, it is possible. If not, probably not. That has been our experience.

If you have to pay to attend, it is not worth it. Real ID camps do not cost for you to attend because they are actually ID ing the kids there.

Even pro teams charge players to participate in open try-outs.

IF you are going to "open tryouts" then you may want to reconsider. If you are good enough to play in college, you don't have to go to "paid" ID Camps.

If you are good enough to play pro, you go to combines and then are selected or you are bought from another club.

If you are on the fringe, by all means, pay to have then look at you. But, don't expect anything to come of it other than you giving some money and getting a practice session. The kids making the team won't be there.

I agree. I know a coach at a mid-level University and he said ID Camp's are big money makers. He puts it out there as an ID camp and he makes a significant amount of money off it.

Don't pay to go to anything.

even combines make money. if it is free for you, someone along the line paid "something" for it.

If you are personally invited by the coach, or assistant coach, then it is worth it. if it is off an email blast from a list they got somewhere, don't bother.

Not true. My daughter is verbally committed to a top 10 D1 soccer school. The school did not know who she was before an ID clinic. She sent resumes and schedules to them for two years they never came to watch her play. She called them the week before to let them know she was attending and the coach was like, umm yeah sure (showing no interest or understanding that she'd been trying to get their attention for years. She attended an ID clinic and the rest is history.

If you want to attend that school, go to their clinic or camp.

There must be some crazy reverse soccer logic going on.

If the school is on your list go to the clinic for several reasons. 1st you get to see the campus. 2nd you can evaluate the coach's training style. 3rd you often get to meet the players, you can ask them questions about the program. 4th the coaches get to see you play, where else can you ensure the coaches at schools you are interested in will watch you play?

Go clinics and camps at schools you are interested in.

THere are smart ways to work camp requests. Put one email on your team's brochure and in your emails to schools on your list and use another for your GOTSOCCER/Soccer in College SINC etc. That way if you get camp invites to your gotsoccer related account you know for sure it's SPAM. Keep a list of colleges that have seen you your team play if they send you invites reply via email it's a good excuse for coaches to contact you back if they are interested, before they might be allowed to under NCAA rules. Also if the school is on your list reply back and tell them you are considering the camp or that you cannot attend, don't reply to their spam email account, reply to the coach's actual emails. If you can attend a clinic to a school on your list do it, it shows them you are interested and serious about their school.
