    If GS gets fired from UP

    If GS's drought of recruiting national team (Canada or the US) caliber players like he did in the ought's and the slide into women's college soccer mediocrity continues and he gets fired as head coach on the bluff what would happen to FCP?

    I know the school will be able to find a top flight replacement coach but would that mean the replacement would step in at FCP too?

    Good question
    It's only a matter of time....that type of personality will fail in that setting. Clive's coattail is about worn down to nothing...many players can't stand playing for him

    UofP is nothing like it used to be.

      Would FCP make him the area's 4th $100K DOC?

      The other question is could he get a job at another school or would he convince the FCP board that he is worth $100K a year to be the DOC?

        The soccer world would be a better place. He is exact opposite of the man Clive was. Clive would be disappointed in GS if he were alive today.

          Wonder what's going through the heads of his FCP players that he has recruited? They may step into a UoP with a hc who didn't recruit them. What about the girls on the FCP ECNL teams who are hoping GS gives them an offer? A couple joined on out of hope he will give them offers. He might not last long enough to give them an offer.

                I have heard this MANY times from different people. GS seems to be a used car salesman which is OPPOSITE of Clive. Probably why FCP can recruit like mad but can't seem to do much with their players and need to recruit non stop.

                  honest question here: what would happen to the current HS Junior and Sophomore players who have verbals with UP through GS?

                    They need a coach who can actually coach. Its time to clean house at that school. Bring them back to what they used to be.

                      Nulled. Look at UO. Cleaned house with current players. Just as you are free to go somewhere else. Verbals mean NOTHING.

                        Almost always the verbals stand from the schools side. Players are the ones who usually think they made a mistake and back out.

                            You are a fool if you believe GS will get fired from UofP.

                            It is not going to happen.

                            I don't think he is a great coach, but his job is safe.

                            There will be changes on the men's side well before you see anything happen on the women's side.

                              Seriously?? One down year and you're already speculating about termination. Please. Get a grip of yourself.. Here is the reality, it won't happen. The mission of UP is bigger than the wins or losses of its athletic programs. Here is another reality; there is a definite history, but just because one may play for FCP, doesn't mean they want to attend UP at all, so connecting the two is tenuous at best.

                              IF winning in athletics was the primary focus and mission at UP, their baseball and basketball coaches would have been long gone. Both are still there because they represent and fit the overall mission of UP regardless of wins and losses. Neither program comes close to the success GSW has had.
