I have gotten a chance to watch numerous games in both leagues this year, is there really a difference between the two leagues? If so, I don't see it, the teams are basically equal, none of them are above average that I have watched in either league.

At this point, I would say CDL and USA Division 1 is comparable quality with a slight edge to CDL because CDL clubs try to play team soccer versus the direct play found with many USA clubs. The CDL scheduling and substitution rules do a better job preparing you for State Cup. In addition, having all games at one site is desirable for DOCs to be able to observe more teams play on a weekend to solidify training plans.
This is coming from a coach who opted our team out of CDL this year to play FSPL and NPL.

Wow, this again. A USA parent once again trying to justify why their team and league just continue to suck. If you want better competition you will need to move to a CDL club. It is not going to work just to keep saying that your league is just as good. You must be crazy to think that USA is even close to CDL. Just look at your rankings from top to bottom of the clubs and compare. USA Division one is the equivalent of CDL B divisions. There is not one team in your 1st division USA senior teams that would win the CDL A leagues. Face it, losers.

I am in a position to see both leagues on a regular basis, and I will tell you that CDL and USA D1 are the same. In fact, some USA D1 teams play in CDL when some of the 'chosen few' refuse to play a team. CDL tries to cover this up by making the USA guest team wear the uniform of the CDL club. Pathetic. So take your holier-than-thou attitude and get on outta here!
Simply not true, we see the U16G celtic who play under the Clearwater Chargers CDL tag and we still see the horrible green stripes (and that's the home jersey, their away jersey is even worse) and not the iconic Ronald McDonald gold of Clearwater.

CDL is pretty weak at the U-17/U-18 Boys age groups this year.
Surprisingly, there are 2 teams playing in both CDL and USA this year. Here are the side-by-side comparisons of teams playing in both leagues:
U-15 Girls
Houston Dynamo
CDL 1 win, 2 ties, 2 losses 6 GF, 10 GA
USA D1 6 wins, 1 tie, 1 loss 28 GF, 8 GA
U-17 Boys
Northport
CDL 4 wins, 1 tie, 0 losses 24 GF, 5 GA (Has yet to play top team in league, Is 2nd based on points per game)
USA D1, 7 wins, 0 tie, 1 loss 30 GF, 7 GA (Is top team in league based on points per game)
So, in the case of U-15 girls, I would say CDL is superior. In the case of U-17 Boys, I would say the brackets are comparable; however, CDL has a couple teams (Strictly, Clearwater) that will do better in State Cup than USA (Temple Terrace).

They did last season, but PW is trying to get, at least his team, out of the USA league.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostCDL has some good teams in it but there are some crappy teams in it as well. And even the supposedly good teams are not so good. For example, Chargers, TBU and Lakeland U17 girls all play CDL. The Chargers are terrible and TBU and Lakeland went 0-3 in the recent ACDC tournament. The point is, CDL is no longer all that it is cracked up to be. Clubs are not putting their number 1 teams in the league but rather their 2nd or 3rd teams in so it's watered down and no better than any other league. FYSA needs to consolidate the leagues in the state and regulate teams up or down. The best teams play in FSPL then D1, D2, etc. The first year you use the round of 16 in SC and after that then the winners of D1 move up and the bottom 4 teams drop down to D1. Elite teams such as Braden River and TBU's first team play FSPL and whatever regional league they get accepted to. If teams want to play in FSL then good. NPL is another joke that needs to be fixed. There are some bad teams in there as well.
What's your beef with the NPL? what I think is a joke is that FYSA allows their leagues to dole out their season points in September! doesn't hurt their ranking at all to garner 2, 3, 4K points at the time in the season when their standing is critical to team placement at showcases.
