    Parents gone wrong

Was at a FSPL game Sunday, were after the game a parent confronted the coach. The argument was about the kid being taken out mid way through the second half and they were losing 2-1. This verbal assault is what is wrong with youth sports. I overheard the parent attacking the coach about why the coach sub the kid. I have to say the scene was not pretty. This parent (assumed age of 40 something, 6 foot +, and weighing in around 250-260 lbs) after leaving the field proceeded to stop his landrover as he was leaving the parking lot, get out of his truck and confront the assistant coach (185 lbs), chest to chest.

What happened to the 24 hour rule that us parents signed at the beginning of the season?

I feel sorry for this kid/team. This parent seemed like he was trying to live through his kid. He must of said " I hate losing" 20 time or so.

Unfortunately, this behavior happens in every youth sport. As parents you may want to try to calm these parents down beforehand and help them realize that it is only a youth sport and the goal is in the long haul, not just one game. If that does not work, one swift kick between the legs makes all 6+ft and 250lbs come back to earth...literally!

I would kick the kid of the team. Sorry, I know that it is not the kid's fault but he will learn that your actions affect others. In college a coach can cheat and the entire team gets probation and affects every kid even if the sanctions are due to events that happened years ago like at Penn State. Let Dad explain to his kid that he is a D-bag.

I would not kick the kid off the team, it is not the kids fault. The Coach/club/other parents should ask the crazy dad to not come to the games or just sit in the car.

there should be some kind of pre-arranged penalty in the conduct agreement he signed. To remove the player from the team is harsh for parent conduct. The parent must be punished! 30 lashes with a licorice whip?

Treat him respectfully, as an adult.

Explain that the coach has full authority on playing time and that this is his warning, next time he blows up, the father is not welcome at any games, practices or team events.

If the dad realizes the error of his ways, he will straighten up, otherwise the kid will be on a different team in the spring.

did you have a kid on either team? wondering why you were watching the events so intently. unless you were parent of kid on same team, you would only be speculating as to why the kid was pulled out during the game.

Well , it's pretty obvious that this is a parent from this team. And you area probably the one parent holding the "d" license. You seem to always stick your nose where it doesn't belong. It's unfprtunate that you decided to blab all of this on this gossip site. For everyone's information the parent apologized to everyone and the coach accepted his apology and the parents know how good of a guy he is and we know everybody can have a bad day.

No, I am from the visiting team. When you are at a small complex with only one game going on, it is pretty easy to see/hear a loud argument.
