May he rest in peace. Good man. Did wonderful things for soccer and wonderful things for young players. Donation request for youth soccer anywhere.

The guy is(was)a legendary gambler, winning 6.7 mill at the track in May. If anyone is cool enough it's Big Dan. Stories about him are legen-dary. Don't leave us Big Dan!

What kind of person kids about someones death?

Like him or not he had tremendous passion for the game and supported players, enabling some to pursue playing at the highest level that they may not have been able to otherwise. He was a man who went after what he wanted and made a difference. He didn't always make good choices but who does.

May he rest in peace and may his family find peace of mind knowing he is in a better place.

If you're not a believer then good for you. You can take solace in knowing one day you will rot.

The other tendency of human behavior that is so disingenuous and unnecessary is the near canonization of anyone who passes away. To hear people talk, you'd think that no d-bag or monster ever died--they're all praised to such artificial heights that it's often nearly vomit-inducing, not saying that this is a case of that with this specific person, just a general observation and peeve. If you were a miserable d-bag in life who brought torment to others, then that's exactly how you should and must be remembered. All this revisionist history once someone dies is a disservice to those who suffered while the person lived.

Most people show the respect for the people who are left behind and grieving.

You clearly have some beef with built up anger. It is very sad to be alive and waste it being angry.

Yet it is far, far worse to be alive and see the world perpetually through rose-tinted glasses, which distorts reality and replaces it with an overly saccharine take on it which is nothing more than a childish lie. Just how is distorting who a person was during life showing "respect" for those left behind?

That post didn't look "angry" to me. He was making an observation that disagrees with you. He might be a perfectly happy guy.

Should we say nice things about, say John Wayne Gacey, out of respect for his family? I agree that the practice is archaic. Let's remember people for who they are, warts and all. If we all get air brushed in death then we can feel free to live without consequences.
