There comes a time when all the negative bashing becomes back burner talk.
Many including myself, disagreed with his coaching methods, but i never took the time time to post or talk about him in a negative way, lets remind our selfs there is no perfect coach.

We also need to remember that we are here temporary and this young man was very passionate about soccer. A young man like this for whatever reasoning was in pain and struggling with issues that we may never know.
What ever your feelings were to him and his methods im sure was soccer based.
So in my eye that makes him a good guy and it means we have lost a member in our soccer community.
This week we have heard news of Shaun Bailey who is currently in the fight of his life with health complications.
We really need to support our Connecticut coach's, parents and clubs and stop this bashing once and for all.

Lets "Talk about soccer" Talking soccer

        RIP Omer.

          I agree.
The training was crazy, suicidal at times, he worked the girls to death, my daughter couldn't keep up, but at the end of 6 weeks of camp he never put her down, belittle her or said a bad word. He gave a full report on her weaknesses and strengths.

Probably not the time to critique his coaching. He was more than a soccer coach. He was a person in pain.

Maybe all members of the CT soccer community could honor this man by avoiding character assassinations and general bashing of any kind. This could be a great site and a very valuable resource for soccer information. We don't need all the hate. For Omer!

Yes- there are many reasons for the intense scrutiny in youth sports. Hard as a parent not to be with the time and money commitment. This is a reminder that you never know what is going on in someone else's world. Maybe Omer's last gift to the game we all love is for a a better perspective.

Did SCP play scheduled games today in light of this tragic news?

I knew Omer and I liked him. He tried his best. Coaches are people. Don't come here and anonymously degrade them. The constant hate for them on this board should end. Take the high road.

Really sad to hear what happened to someone that respected the honor of being competitive and wanted the best for his players. I would not wish that frame of mind, or troubles to do what he did on anyone. Really sad news, and best wishes go out to his family, and players/parents/coaches that knew him better than I did.

The poster wasn't criticizing him in a bad way. I read his or her's post it did explain his method in which OPs daughter was not up to, i think that was being honest with a positive conclusion on Omer's tactics. If you liked it or not he was training the players to be the best they can.

For the ones here posting their comments and their experience with Omer that means he touched the soccer community.
The CT coaches and parents of a child with any contact with him should show their sympathy and condolences, he truly was a great guy. Extremely passionate about the game he really wanted to make CT soccer better. We don't have too many like that left.

If there's any information on where the soccer community can show or help his family in this time and need please post that available information.

This is not the news anyone wants to hear. Many girls have had the wonderful pleasure of being coached by Omer, he will be missed. For anyone that ever sat down and chatted with him, you will know that his life was 24/7/365 about soccer.
                              Passionate person. So sad
