You know the answer so just put it out there. Also, contact someone within the club to have them do something about it.

The famous Newton United Club will be no longer after this Spring. This is too bad actually. They had a decent model and showed the bigger and more expensive clubs that they could produce competitive teams. However, youth soccer is a business. The volunteer dads of NU have proven to themselves that they cannot continue while having to work a full time job otherwise.

Poor England. I feel really bad for them now.

                How about Chelsea?

Who would have guessed that Newton would become a soccer hotbed? Sounds like clubs have swooped in to plunder Newton United. Nice knowing you NU.

A model that isn't sustainable is not a decent model.

Its a nice idea for keeping costs low, but like you pointed out, unless you can keep finding free labor, it isn't a workable.

The idea that youth soccer is a business is the effect, not the cause. Because parents cannot give their time indefinitely (other commitments + kids grow up), and there is not an endless supply of qualified volunteers, most working clubs require professional coaches. That is why club soccer is a business - because a club can't last without professional coaches.

I don't think the thread was started by someone who knew the answer. Same thread was started on CT board. I suspect this was a topic posted by a moderator just to generate a discussion.
