Its a nice idea for keeping costs low, but like you pointed out, unless you can keep finding free labor, it isn't a workable.
The idea that youth soccer is a business is the effect, not the cause. Because parents cannot give their time indefinitely (other commitments + kids grow up), and there is not an endless supply of qualified volunteers, most working clubs require professional coaches. That is why club soccer is a business - because a club can't last without professional coaches.Comment
