    2014 MSC Kick-Off Classic

Please join MANHATTAN SOCCER CLUB on February 28th through March 2nd for one of the largest, fastest growing Elite/College Showcase Tournaments in the United States. Our sixth annual event, located in the New York City metropolitan area, promises to be better than ever with highly ranked national and international teams and over 200 college coaches from top athletic and academic institutions expected to attend.

Last year, the MSC Kickoff Classic was one of the top 3 ranked boys tournaments in the country (and ranked 11th combined with the girls side). Only Surf Cup and Disney ranked higher.

Will you have people to get the snow off the fields? Or least not yell at us when we try to sweep the lines

This is a GREAT tournament... if your club is CFC.

Coldest tournie ever, every year. Love the way the wind comes howling up the river across the fields.

Actually not true. We are not CFC and found the quality of play to be quite good. That said, parking is lousy, hope you don't have much time between games because there are few places to go (forget about food) and good luck if you have more than one kid playing - the fields are all over the place. I guess the bottom line is the competition can be quite good but the logistics are terrible.

Quality of competition is good, and it is close, that is all that I would say about the tourney, and I have been to this tourney 5 times. If you get placement in a top bracket and get Randall's island you might have a good experience. Otherwise, be prepared to drive to multiple locations on same day. Refs will suck because they need so many. Weather, expect high winds on Randall's. Elsewhere, fields will not be regulation, it will be cold with good chance of rainor snow. Parking at many location, ie Randall's, Brooklyn and Yonkers will be tough and be prepared to park far away and/ or get expensive parking ticket. If you are a msc friend, you get better placement. This year it is becoming a premier npl tournament with guaranteed acceptance for first tier npl teams and probably placements too. Parent unpaid field Marshall's are horrible if there are any issues, and here usually are. Msc should spend some money and stop being so cheap and get some people who know what they are doing to help run this tourney. The guy who runs it, Patrick from msc is a real smug a hole who thinks he is the $h1t.

Skip it and go to PDA the following month or go to Jeff cup in march. Both are ranked higher.

Happened to us too - kids were slipping all over the place and one kid really got hurt. Miserably, miserably cold and wet. Thank god I'll only have one kid in it this year. Other posters are correct about the terrible logistics. Since when is an hour+ drive out onto Long Island part of Manhattan?

Everton will be there this year. Making a strong statement.

MOST of the competition is strong. not ALL. They need someone to fill out the bottom brackets.

We now pay to go to bigger tournaments. We will still be placed in lower brackets and do poorly, but we had to justify increased yearly tuition?
